여호수아 18장

 

The whole assembly of the Israelites gathered at Shiloh and set up the Tent of Meeting there. The country was brought under their control, but there were still seven Israelite tribes who had not yet received their inheritance. So Joshua said to the Israelites: "How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you? Appoint three men from each tribe. I will send them out to make a survey of the land and to write a description of it, according to the inheritance of each. Then they will return to me. You are to divide the land into seven parts. Judah is to remain in its territory on the south and the house of Joseph in its territory on the north. 이스라엘 자손이 그 땅을 정복한 뒤의 일이다. 이스라엘 자손 온 회중이 실로에 모여서, 거기에 회막을 세웠다. 그러나 이스라엘 자손 가운데 유산을 아직도 받지 못한 지파가 일곱이나 남아 있었다. 그래서 여호수아가 이스라엘 자손에게 이렇게 말하였다. "당신들은 어느 때까지 주 당신들 조상의 하나님이 당신들에게 주신 땅을 차지하러 가기를 미루겠소? 당신들은 각 지파에서 세 사람씩을 선출하시오. 내가 그들을 그리로 보내겠소. 그들이 가서 그 땅을 두루 다닌 뒤에, 자기 지파가 유산으로 받을 땅의 모양을 그려서 내게로 가져 오도록 하겠소. 그 땅은 일곱 몫으로 나눌 것이오. 유다는 남쪽의 자기 영토에 머물고, 요셉 족속은 북쪽의 자기 영토에 머물도록 하시오.

After you have written descriptions of the seven parts of the land, bring them here to me and I will cast lots for you in the presence of the LORD our God. The Levites, however, do not get a portion among you, because the priestly service of the LORD is their inheritance. And Gad, Reuben and the half-tribe of Manasseh have already received their inheritance on the east side of the Jordan. Moses the servant of the LORD gave it to them." As the men started on their way to map out the land, Joshua instructed them, "Go and make a survey of the land and write a description of it. Then return to me, and I will cast lots for you here at Shiloh in the presence of the LORD." So the men left and went through the land. They wrote its description on a scroll, town by town, in seven parts, and returned to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh. Joshua then cast lots for them in Shiloh in the presence of the LORD, and there he distributed the land to the Israelites according to their tribal divisions. 당신들은 그 땅을 일곱 몫으로 나누어서 지도를 그리고, 그것을 여기 나에게로 가져 오시오. 그러면 내가 여기 주 우리 하나님 앞에서 제비를 뽑아서, 당신들의 몫을 결정하겠소. 그러나 당신들 가운데서 레위 사람은 받을 몫이 없소. 주님의 제사장이라는 직분이 곧 그들의 유산이기 때문이오. 또한 갓과 르우벤과 므낫세 반쪽 지파는, 주님의 종 모세가 요단 강 건너 동쪽에서 그들에게 준 유산을 이미 받았소." 그 땅의 모양을 그리러 가는 사람들이 떠나려 할 때에, 여호수아가 그들에게 지시하였다. "가서 그 땅을 두루 다녀 보고, 그 지도를 그려서 내게로 돌아오시오. 내가 여기 실로에서 주님 앞에서 제비를 뽑아서 당신들의 몫을 결정하겠소." 그 사람들이 가서 그 땅을 두루 다니며 성읍의 명단을 작성하여, 책에 일곱 몫으로 그려서, 실로의 진에 있는 여호수아에게 돌아왔다. 실로에서 여호수아는 주님 앞에서 제비를 뽑고, 거기에서 그는 이스라엘 자손의 각 지파에게 그 땅을 나누어 주었다.

The lot came up for the tribe of Benjamin, clan by clan. Their allotted territory lay between the tribes of Judah and Joseph: On the north side their boundary began at the Jordan, passed the northern slope of Jericho and headed west into the hill country, coming out at the desert of Beth Aven. From there it crossed to the south slope of Luz (that is, Bethel) and went down to Ataroth Addar on the hill south of Lower Beth Horon. From the hill facing Beth Horon on the south the boundary turned south along the western side and came out at Kiriath Baal (that is, Kiriath Jearim), a town of the people of Judah. This was the western side. The boundary went down to the foot of the hill facing the Valley of Ben Hinnom, north of the Valley of Rephaim. It continued down the Hinnom Valley along the southern slope of the Jebusite city and so to En Rogel. It then curved north, went to En Shemesh, continued to Geliloth, which faces the Pass of Adummim, and ran down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben. It continued to the northern slope of Beth Arabah and on down into the Arabah. It then went to the northern slope of Beth Hoglah and came out at the northern bay of the Salt Sea, at the mouth of the Jordan in the south. This was the southern boundary. The Jordan formed the boundary on the eastern side. These were the boundaries that marked out the inheritance of the clans of Benjamin on all sides. 르바임 골짜기 북쪽에 있는 힌놈의 아들 골짜기 맞은쪽 산기슭으로 내려가고, 다시 힌놈 골짜기로 내려가서는, 여부스 남쪽 비탈을 지나서 엔로겔로 내려간다. 그 경계선은 다시 북쪽으로 나아가 엔세메스에 이르고, 아둠밈 비탈 맞은편의 글릴롯으로 나간 다음에, 르우벤의 아들 보한의 돌까지 내려간다. 이어서 북쪽으로 아라바 맞은쪽의 비탈까지 내려가, 아라바에 이른다. 다시 북쪽으로 벳호글라 비탈을 지나, 요단 강 남쪽 끝 곧 요단 강 물을 끌어들이는 사해의 북쪽 어귀가 그 경계선의 끝이다. 이것이 남쪽 경계선이다. 동쪽 경계선은 요단 강이다. 이것이 베냐민 자손이 그 가문을 따라 얻은 유산의 사방 경계선이다.

The tribe of Benjamin, clan by clan, had the following cities: Jericho, Beth Hoglah, Emek Keziz, Beth Arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel, Avvim, Parah, Ophrah, Kephar Ammoni, Ophni and Geba--twelve towns and their villages. Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth, 베냐민 자손의 지파가 그들의 가문을 따라 차지한 성읍은, 여리고와 벳호글라와 에멕그시스와 벳아라바와 스마라임과 베델과 아윔과 바라와 오브라와 그발암모니와 오브니와 게바, 이렇게 열두 성읍과 그 주변 마을들, 또 기브온과 라마와 브에롯과

Mizpah, Kephirah, Mozah, Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah, Zelah, Haeleph, the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah and Kiriath--fourteen towns and their villages. This was the inheritance of Benjamin for its clans. 미스바와 그비라와 모사와 레겜과 이르브엘과 다랄라와 셀라와 엘렙과 여부스 곧 예루살렘과 기부앗과 기럇, 이렇게 열네 성읍과 그 주변 마을들이다. 이것이 베냐민 자손이 그 가문을 따라 얻은 유산이다.
