역대하 28장

 

Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD. He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and also made cast idols for worshiping the Baals. He burned sacrifices in the Valley of Ben Hinnom and sacrificed his sons in the fire, following the detestable ways of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites. He offered sacrifices and burned incense at the high places, on the hilltops and under every spreading tree. Therefore the LORD his God handed him over to the king of Aram. The Arameans defeated him and took many of his people as prisoners and brought them to Damascus. He was also given into the hands of the king of Israel, who inflicted heavy casualties on him. 아하스가 왕이 되었을 때에, 그는 스무 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 열여섯 해 동안 다스렸다. 그러나 그는 주님께서 보시기에 올바른 일을 하지 않았다. 그는 그의 조상 다윗이 한 대로 하지 않았다. 오히려 그는 이스라엘의 왕들이 걸어간 길을 걸어갔고, 심지어 바알 신상들을 부어 만들기까지 하였다. In one day Pekah son of Remaliah killed a hundred and twenty thousand soldiers in Judah--because Judah had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers. Zicri, an Ephraimite warrior, killed Maaseiah the king's son, Azrikam the officer in charge of the palace, and Elkanah, second to the king. The Israelites took captive from their kinsmen two hundred thousand wives, sons and daughters. They also took a great deal of plunder, which they carried back to Samaria. But a prophet of the LORD named Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army when it returned to Samaria. He said to them, "Because the LORD, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he gave them into your hand. But you have slaughtered them in a rage that reaches to heaven. And now you intend to make the men and women of Judah and Jerusalem your slaves. But aren't you also guilty of sins against the LORD your God? 이스라엘의 르말리야의 아들 베가 왕이 유다에서 하루 동안에 용사들을 십이만 명이나 죽였다. 유다 사람들이 조상의 주 하나님을 버렸기 때문이다. 에브라임의 용사 시그리가 마아세야 왕자와 아스리감 궁내대신과 엘가나 총리대신을 죽였다. 이스라엘 군대는 그들의 동족인 유다 사람들을, 아내들과 아이들까지 합쳐 무려 이십만 명이나 사로잡고, 물건도 많이 약탈하여 사마리아로 가져 갔다. 사마리아에 오뎃이라고 하는 주님의 예언자가 있었는데, 그가, 사마리아로 개선하는 군대를 마중하러 나가서, 그들을 보고 말하였다. "주 당신들의 조상의 하나님께서 유다 백성에게 진노하셔서, 그들을 당신들의 손에 붙이신 것은 사실이오. 하지만 당신들이 살기가 등등하여 그들을 살육하고, 그것으로 성이 차지 않아서, 유다와 예루살렘의 남녀들까지 노예로 삼을 작정을 하고 있소. 당신들도 주 하나님을 거역하는 죄를 지었다는 것을 알아야 하오.

Now listen to me! Send back your fellow countrymen you have taken as prisoners, for the LORD's fierce anger rests on you." Then some of the leaders in Ephraim--Azariah son of Jehohanan, Berekiah son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai--confronted those who were arriving from the war. "You must not bring those prisoners here," they said, "or we will be guilty before the LORD. Do you intend to add to our sin and guilt? For our guilt is already great, and his fierce anger rests on Israel." So the soldiers gave up the prisoners and plunder in the presence of the officials and all the assembly. The men designated by name took the prisoners, and from the plunder they clothed all who were naked. They provided them with clothes and sandals, food and drink, and healing balm. All those who were weak they put on donkeys. So they took them back to their fellow countrymen at Jericho, the City of Palms, and returned to Samaria. 당신들은 이제 내가 하는 말을 들으시오. 당신들이 잡아 온 이 포로들은 바로 당신들의 형제자매이니, 곧 풀어 주어 돌아가게 하시오. 그렇게 하지 않으면, 주님께서 진노하셔서 당장 당신들을 벌하실 것이오." 에브라임 자손의 지도자 네 사람, 곧 요하난의 아들 아사랴와 므실레못의 아들 베레갸와 살룸의 아들 여히스기야와 하들래의 아들 아마사가 역시 싸우고 개선하는 군대를 막아서서 그들에게 말하였다. "이 포로들을 이리로 끌어들이지 마시오. 이런 일을 저질렀기 때문에, 우리가 모두 주님 앞에서 죄인이 되었소. 당신들은 우리의 죄와 허물을 더욱 많게 하였소. 우리의 허물이 이렇게 많아져서, 우리 이스라엘이 주님의 진노를 피할 수 없게 되었소." 무장한 군인들이 이 말을 듣고, 포로와 전리품을 백성과 지도자들에게 넘겼다. 사람들이 위의 네 지도자들에게, 포로를 돌보아 주도록 임무를 맡기니, 그 네 사람이 전리품을 풀어서, 헐벗은 이들을 입히고, 맨발로 걸어온 이들에게 신을 신기고, 먹을 것과 마실 것을 가져다 주고, 상처를 입은 이들에게는 기름을 발라 치료하여 주고, 환자들은 나귀에 태워 모두 종려나무 성 여리고로 데리고 가서, 그들의 친척에게 넘겨 주고, 사마리아로 되돌아왔다.

At that time King Ahaz sent to the king of Assyria for help. The Edomites had again come and attacked Judah and carried away prisoners, while the Philistines had raided towns in the foothills and in the Negev of Judah. They captured and occupied Beth Shemesh, Aijalon and Gederoth, as well as Soco, Timnah and Gimzo, with their surrounding villages. The LORD had humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had promoted wickedness in Judah and had been most unfaithful to the LORD. Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came to him, but he gave him trouble instead of help. 한번은 유다 왕 아하스가 앗시리아의 왕에게 사신을 보내어 도움을 청한 일이 있다. 에돔 사람이 다시 와서, 유다를 치고, 백성을 사로잡아 갔으며, 블레셋 사람도 유다의 평지와 남방 성읍들을 침략하여, 벳세메스와 아얄론과 그데롯을 점령하고, 소고를 포함한 그 주변 성읍들과 딤나와 김소와 그 인근 마을들을 점령하고, 거기에 정착하였기 때문이다. 이스라엘의 아하스 왕이 백성을 부추기어 주님께 크게 범죄하였으므로, 주님께서 유다를 낮추셨던 것이다. 앗시리아의 디글랏빌레셀 왕이 오기는 왔으나, 아하스를 돕기는 커녕 도리어 그를 쳐서 곤경에 빠뜨렸다.

Ahaz took some of the things from the temple of the LORD and from the royal palace and from the princes and presented them to the king of Assyria, but that did not help him. In his time of trouble King Ahaz became even more unfaithful to the LORD. He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought, "Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me." But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel. Ahaz gathered together the furnishings from the temple of God and took them away. He shut the doors of the LORD's temple and set up altars at every street corner in Jerusalem. In every town in Judah he built high places to burn sacrifices to other gods and provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers, to anger. 아하스가 주님의 성전과 자기의 왕궁과 대신들의 집에서 보물을 꺼내어 앗시리아의 왕에게 바쳤으나, 별 효과가 없었다. 사태가 이렇게 악화되었는데도, 아하스 왕은 주님께 더욱 범죄하여, 자기를 친 다마스쿠스 사람들이 섬기는 신들에게 제사를 지내면서 "시리아 왕들이 섬긴 신들이 그 왕들을 도왔으니, 나도 그 신들에게 제사를 드리면, 그 신들이 나를 돕겠지" 하고 생각하였다. 그러나 이러한 일이 오히려 아하스와 온 이스라엘을 망하게 하였다. 그뿐만 아니라, 아하스는 하나님의 성전 안에 있는 기구를 거두어다가 부수고, 또 주님의 성전으로 드나드는 문들을 닫아 걸고, 예루살렘 이곳 저곳에 제단을 쌓고, 유다의 각 성읍에 산당을 세우고, 다른 신들에게 분향하여, 조상 때부터 섬겨 온 주 하나님을 진노케 하였다.

The other events of his reign and all his ways, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of Jerusalem, but he was not placed in the tombs of the kings of Israel. And Hezekiah his son succeeded him as king. 이것 말고도, 아하스가 한 모든 일과 행위는, 처음부터 끝까지, '유다와 이스라엘 열왕기'에 기록되어 있다. 아하스가 그의 조상과 함께 잠드니, 그를 왕실 묘지에 장사하지 않고, 예루살렘 성 안에 장사했다. 그의 아들 히스기야가 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.
