갈라디아서 1장

Paul, an apostle--sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead-- and all the brothers with me, To the churches in Galatia: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 사람들이 시켜서 사도가 된 것도 아니요, 사람이 맡겨서 사도가 된 것도 아니요, 예수 그리스도께서 그리고 그분을 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살리신 하나님 아버지께서 임명하심으로써 사도가 된 나 바울이, 나와 함께 있는 모든 믿음의 식구와 더불어 갈라디아에 있는 여러 교회에 이 편지를 씁니다. 우리 아버지 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도께서 내려 주시는 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다. 예수 그리스도께서는 하나님 우리 아버지의 뜻을 따라 우리를 이 악한 세대에서 건져 주시려고, 우리의 죄를 대속하기 위하여 자기 몸을 바치셨습니다. 하나님께 영광이 영원무궁 하도록 있기를 빕니다. 아멘.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. 여러분을 [그리스도의]은혜 안으로 불러 주신 분에게서, 여러분이 그렇게도 빨리 떠나 다른 복음으로 넘어가는 데는, 나는 놀라지 않을 수 없습니다. 실제로 다른 복음이 있는 것은 아닙니다. 다만 몇몇 사람이 여러분을 교란시켜서 그리스도의 복음을 왜곡시키려고 하는 것뿐입니다. 그러나 우리들이나, 또는 하늘에서 온 천사일지라도, 우리가 여러분에게 전한 것과 다른 복음을 여러분에게 전한다면, 마땅히 저주를 받아야 합니다. 우리가 전에도 말하였지만, 이제 다시 말합니다. 여러분이 이미 받은 것과 다른 복음을 여러분에게 전하는 사람이 있다면, 그가 누구이든지, 저주를 받아야 마땅합니다. 내가 지금 사람들의 마음을 기쁘게 하려 하고 있습니까? 아니면, 하나님의 마음을 기쁘게 해 드리려 하고 있습니까? 아니면, 사람의 환심을 사려고 하고 있습니까? 내가 아직도 사람의 환심을 사려고 하고 있다면, 나는 그리스도의 종이 아닙니다.

I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. I was advancing in Judaism beyond many Jews of my own age and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased 형제자매 여러분, 내가 여러분에게 밝혀드립니다. 내가 전한 복음은 사람에게서 비롯된 것이 아닙니다. 그 복음은, 내가 사람에게서 받은 것도 아니요, 배운 것도 아니요, 예수 그리스도의 나타나심으로 받은 것입니다. 내가 전에 유대교에 있을 적에 한 행위가 어떠하였는가를, 여러분이 이미 들은 줄 압니다. 나는 하나님의 교회를 몹시 박해하였고, 또 아주 없애버리려고 하였습니다. 나는 내 동족 가운데서, 나와 나이가 같은 또래의 많은 사람보다 유대교 신앙에 앞서 있었으며, 내 조상들의 전통을 지키는 일에도 훨씬 더 열성이었습니다. 그러나 나를 모태로부터 따로 세우시고 은혜로 불러 주신 [하나님께서],

to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went immediately into Arabia and later returned to Damascus. Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Peter and stayed with him fifteen days. I saw none of the other apostles--only James, the Lord's brother. I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. 그 아들을 이방 사람에게 전하게 하시려고, 그를 나에게 기꺼이 나타내 보이셨습니다. 그 때에 나는 사람들과 의논하지 않았고, 또 나보다 먼저 사도가 된 사람들을 만나려고 예루살렘으로 올라가지도 않았습니다. 나는 곧바로 아라비아로 갔다가, 다마스쿠스로 되돌아갔습니다. 삼 년 뒤에 나는 게바를 만나려고 예루살렘으로 올라갔습니다. 나는 그와 함께 보름 동안을 지냈습니다. 그러나 나는 주님의 동생 야고보 밖에는, 사도들 가운데 아무도 만나지 않았습니다. （내가 여러분에게 쓰는 이 말은, 하나님 앞에 맹세코 거짓말이 아닙니다!）

Later I went to Syria and Cilicia. I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. They only heard the report: "The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy." And they praised God because of me. 그 뒤에 나는 시리아와 길리기아 지방으로 갔습니다. 그래서 나는 유대 지방에 있는 그리스도의 교회들에게는 얼굴이 알려져 있지 않았습니다. 그들은 다만 "전에 우리를 박해하던 그 사람이, 지금은 그가 전에 없애버리려고 하던 그 믿음을 전한다" 하는 소문을 들을 따름이었습니다. 그래서 그들은 나를 두고 하나님께 줄곧 영광을 돌렸습니다.
