고린도후서 4장

Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. on the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 그러므로 우리는 하나님의 자비를 힘입어서 이 직분을 맡고 있으니, 낙심하지 않습니다. 우리는 부끄러워서 드러내지 못할 일들을 배격하였습니다. 우리는 간교하게 행하지도 않고, 하나님의 말씀을 왜곡하지도 않습니다. 우리는 진리를 환히 드러냄으로써, 하나님 앞에서 모든 사람의 양심에 우리 자신을 떳떳하게 내세웁니다. 우리의 복음이 가려 있다면, 그것은 멸망하는 자들에게 가려 있는 것입니다. 그들의 경우를 두고 말하면, 이 세상의 신이 믿지 않는 자들의 마음을 어둡게 하여서, 하나님의 형상이신 그리스도의 영광을 선포하는 복음의 빛을 보지 못하게 한 것입니다. 우리는 우리 자신을 전하는 것이 아니라, 예수 그리스도를 주님으로 선포합니다. 우리는 예수로 말미암아 우리 자신을 여러분의 종으로 내세웁니다.

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. "어둠 속에 빛이 비쳐라" 하고 말씀하신 하나님께서, 우리의 마음 속을 비추셔서, [예수] 그리스도의 얼굴에 나타난 하나님의 영광을 아는 지식의 빛을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 우리는 이 보물을 질그릇에 간직하고 있습니다. 이 엄청난 능력은 하나님에게서 나는 것이지, 우리에게서 나는 것이 아닙니다. 우리는 사방으로 죄어들어도 움츠러들지 않으며, 답답한 일을 당해도 낙심하지 않으며, 박해를 당해도 버림받지 않으며, 거꾸러뜨림을 당해도 망하지 않습니다. 우리는 언제나 예수의 죽임 당하심을 우리 몸에 짊어지고 다닙니다. 그것은 예수의 생명도 또한 우리 몸에 나타나게 하기 위함입니다.

For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken."With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. 우리는 살아 있으나, 예수로 말미암아 늘 몸을 죽음에 내어 맡깁니다. 그것은 예수의 생명도 또한 우리의 죽을 육신에 나타나게 하기 위함입니다. 그리하여 죽음은 우리에게서 작용하고, 생명은 여러분에게서 작용합니다. 성경에 기록하기를, "나는 믿었다. 그러므로, 나는 말하였다." 하였습니다. 우리는 그와 똑같은 믿음의 영을 가지고 있으므로, 우리도 믿으며, 그러므로 말합니다. 주 예수를 살리신 분이 예수와 함께 우리도 살리시고, 여러분과 함께 세워주시리라는 것을 우리는 알고 있습니다. 이 모든 일은 다 여러분을 위한 것입니다. 그리하여 하나님의 은혜가 점점 더 많은 사람에게 퍼져서, 감사하는 마음이 넘치게 하고, 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려는 것입니다.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 그러므로 우리는 낙심하지 않습니다. 우리의 겉사람은 낡아가나, 우리의 속사람은 날로 새로워집니다. 지금 우리가 겪는 일시적인 가벼운 고난은, 비교할 수 없을 정도로 영원하고 크나큰 영광을 우리에게 이루어 줍니다. 우리는 보이는 것을 바라보는 것이 아니라, 보이지 않는 것을 바라봅니다. 보이는 것은 잠깐이지만, 보이지 않는 것은 영원하기 때문입니다.
