욥기 13장

 

"My eyes have seen all this, my ears have heard and understood it. What you know, I also know; I am not inferior to you. But I desire to speak to the Almighty and to argue my case with God. You, however, smear me with lies; you are worthless physicians, all of you! If only you would be altogether silent! For you, that would be wisdom. 내가 이 모든 것을 내 눈으로 똑똑히 보고, 내 귀로 다 들어서 안다. 너희가 아는 것만큼은 나도 알고 있으니, 내가 너희보다 못할 것이 없다. 그러나 나는 전능하신 분께 말씀드리고 싶고, 하나님께 내 마음을 다 털어놓고 싶다. 너희는 무식을 거짓말로 때우는 사람들이다. 너희는 모두가 돌팔이 의사나 다름없다. 입이라도 좀 다물고 있으면, 너희의 무식이 탄로 나지는 않을 것이다.

Hear now my argument; listen to the plea of my lips. Will you speak wickedly on God's behalf? Will you speak deceitfully for him? Will you show him partiality? Will you argue the case for God? Would it turn out well if he examined you? Could you deceive him as you might deceive men? He would surely rebuke you if you secretly showed partiality. 너희는 내 항변도 좀 들어 보아라. 내가 내 사정을 호소하는 동안 귀를 좀 기울여 주어라. 너희는 왜 허튼 소리를 하느냐? 너희는 하나님을 위한다는 것을 빌미삼아 알맹이도 없는 말을 하느냐? 법정에서 하나님을 변호할 셈이냐? 하나님을 변호하려고 논쟁을 할 셈이냐? 하나님이 너희를 자세히 조사하셔도 좋겠느냐? 너희가 사람을 속이듯, 그렇게 그분을 속일 수 있을 것 같으냐? 거짓말로 나를 고발하면, 그분께서 너희의 속마음을 여지없이 폭로하실 것이다.

Would not his splendor terrify you? Would not the dread of him fall on you? Your maxims are proverbs of ashes; your defenses are defenses of clay. "Keep silent and let me speak; then let come to me what may. Why do I put myself in jeopardy and take my life in my hands? Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face. 그분의 존엄하심이 너희에게 두려움이 될 것이며, 그분에 대한 두려움이 너희를 사로잡을 것이다. 너희의 격언은 한낱 쓸모 없는 잡담일 뿐이고, 너희의 논쟁은 흙벽에 써 놓은 답변에 불과하다. 이제는 좀 입을 다물고, 내가 말할 기회를 좀 주어라. 결과가 어찌 되든지, 그것은 내가 책임 지겠다. 나라고 해서 어찌 이를 악물고서라도 내 생명을 스스로 지키려 하지 않겠느냐? 하나님이 나를 죽이려고 하셔도, 나로서는 잃을 것이 없다. 그러나 내 사정만은 그분께 아뢰겠다.

Indeed, this will turn out for my deliverance, for no godless man would dare come before him! Listen carefully to my words; let your ears take in what I say. Now that I have prepared my case, I know I will be vindicated. Can anyone bring charges against me? If so, I will be silent and die. only grant me these two things, O God, and then I will not hide from you: 적어도 이렇게 하는 것이, 내게는 구원을 얻는 길이 될 것이다. 사악한 자는 그분 앞에 감히 나서지도 못할 것이다. 너희는 이제 내가 하는 말에 귀를 기울여라. 내가 하는 말을 귀담아 들어라. 나를 좀 보아라, 나는 이제 말할 준비가 되어 있다. 내게는, 내가 죄가 없다는 확신이 있다. 하나님, 나를 고발하시겠습니까? 그러면 나는 조용히 입을 다물고 죽을 각오를 하고 있겠습니다. 내가 하나님께 바라는 것은 두 가지밖에 없습니다. 그것을 들어주시면, 내가 주님을 피하지 않겠습니다.

Withdraw your hand far from me, and stop frightening me with your terrors. Then summon me and I will answer, or let me speak, and you reply. How many wrongs and sins have I committed? Show me my offense and my sin. Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy? Will you torment a windblown leaf? Will you chase after dry chaff? 나를 치시는 그 손을 거두어 주시고, 제발 내가 이렇게 두려워 떨지 않게 해주십시오. 하나님, 하나님께서 먼저 말씀하시면, 내가 대답하겠습니다. 그렇지 않으시면 내가 먼저 말씀드리게 해주시고, 주님께서 내게 대답해 주십시오. 내가 지은 죄가 무엇입니까? 내가 무슨 잘못을 저질렀습니까? 내가 어떤 범죄에 연루되어 있습니까? 어찌하여 주님께서 나를 피하십니까? 어찌하여 주님께서 나를 원수로 여기십니까? 주님께서는 줄곧 나를 위협하시렵니까? 나는 바람에 날리는 나뭇잎 같을 뿐입니다. 주님께서는 지금 마른 지푸라기 같은 나를 공격하고 계십니다.

For you write down bitter things against me and make me inherit the sins of my youth. You fasten my feet in shackles; you keep close watch on all my paths by putting marks on the soles of my feet. "So man wastes away like something rotten, like a garment eaten by moths. 주님께서는 지금, 내가 어릴 때에 한 일까지도 다 들추어 내시면서, 나를 고발하십니다. 내 발에 차꼬를 채우시고, 내가 가는 모든 길을 낱낱이 지켜 보시며, 발바닥 닿는 자국까지 다 조사하고 계십니다. 그래서 저는 썩은 물건과도 같고, 좀먹은 의복과도 같습니다.
