열왕기상 16장

 

Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha: "I lifted you up from the dust and made you leader of my people Israel, but you walked in the ways of Jeroboam and caused my people Israel to sin and to provoke me to anger by their sins. So I am about to consume Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat. Dogs will eat those belonging to Baasha who die in the city, and the birds of the air will feed on those who die in the country." As for the other events of Baasha's reign, what he did and his achievements, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel? 주님의 말씀이 하나니의 아들 예후에게 내려서, 바아사를 두고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "나는 너를 먼지 속에서 이끌어 내어서, 내 백성 이스라엘의 통치자로 삼았다. 그런데 너는 여로보암과 같은 길을 걸어서, 내 백성 이스라엘로 하여금 죄를 짓게 하고, 그 죄 때문에 내 분노를 사는구나. 내가 바아사와 그의 가문을 쓸어 버리겠다. 그리하여 네 가문을 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 가문처럼 만들겠다. 바아사에게 속한 사람으로서, 성 안에서 죽는 사람은 개들이 먹어 치울 것이고, 성 바깥의 들에서 죽는 사람은 하늘의 새들이 쪼아 먹을 것이다." 바아사의 나머지 행적과 그가 한 것과 그의 권세, 이 모든 것은 '이스라엘 왕 역대지략'에 다 기록되어 있다.

Baasha rested with his fathers and was buried in Tirzah. And Elah his son succeeded him as king. Moreover, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani to Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger by the things he did, and becoming like the house of Jeroboam--and also because he destroyed it. In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah two years. Zimri, one of his officials, who had command of half his chariots, plotted against him. Elah was in Tirzah at the time, getting drunk in the home of Arza, the man in charge of the palace at Tirzah. Zimri came in, struck him down and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah. Then he succeeded him as king. 바아사가 조상들과 함께 잠들어서, 디르사에 묻혔다. 아들 엘라가 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다. 주님께서 예언자 하나니의 아들 예후를 시키셔서, 바아사와 그의 가문에게 말씀하셨다. 바아사가 여로보암의 가문처럼 주님께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하므로, 주님의 노를 격동하였을 뿐만 아니라, 여로보암의 가문을 치기까지 했기 때문이다. 유다의 아사 왕 제 이십육년에, 바아사의 아들 엘라가 이스라엘의 왕이 되어서, 디르사에서 두 해 동안 다스렸다. 그러나 엘라의 신하이며 병거부대의 절반을 지휘하는 시므리 장군이, 엘라에게 반기를 들었다. 그 때에 엘라는, 디르사에 있는 아르사 궁내대신의 집에서 술을 마시고, 취해 있었는데, 시므리가 들어가서, 엘라를 쳐죽였다. 유다의 아사 왕 제 이십칠년에, 시므리가 엘라를 대신하여 이스라엘의 왕이 되었다.

As soon as he began to reign and was seated on the throne, he killed off Baasha's whole family. He did not spare a single male, whether relative or friend. So Zimri destroyed the whole family of Baasha, in accordance with the word of the LORD spoken against Baasha through the prophet Jehu- because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed and had caused Israel to commit, so that they provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger by their worthless idols. As for the other events of Elah's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel? In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned in Tirzah seven days. The army was encamped near Gibbethon, a Philistine town. 시므리는 왕위에 올라서, 바아사 가문에 딸린 사람은 모두 죽였는데, 바아사 가문의 남자는, 일가 친척이든지 친구이든지, 한 사람도 남겨 두지 않았다. 시므리는, 주님께서 예후 예언자를 시키셔서 바아사에게 말씀하신 대로, 바아사 가문의 모든 사람을 멸망시켰다. 이것은 바아사와 그의 아들 엘라가 지은 모든 죄 때문이다. 그들은 자기들만 죄를 지은 것이 아니라, 우상을 만들어서 이스라엘에게 죄를 짓게 하였으므로, 이스라엘의 주 하나님의 분노를 샀다. 엘라의 나머지 행적과 그가 한 일은 '이스라엘 왕 역대지략'에 다 기록되어 있다. 유다의 아사 왕 제 이십칠년에, 시므리는 디르사에서 이스라엘의 왕이 되었으나, 그의 통치는 칠 일 만에 끝났다. 시므리가 엘라를 살해하고서 왕위를 차지할 그 무렵에, 이스라엘 군대는 블레셋에 속한 깁브돈을 치려고 포진하고 있었다.

When the Israelites in the camp heard that Zimri had plotted against the king and murdered him, they proclaimed Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel that very day there in the camp. Then Omri and all the Israelites with him withdrew from Gibbethon and laid siege to Tirzah. When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the citadel of the royal palace and set the palace on fire around him. So he died, because of the sins he had committed, doing evil in the eyes of the LORD and walking in the ways of Jeroboam and in the sin he had committed and had caused Israel to commit. As for the other events of Zimri's reign, and the rebellion he carried out, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel? 그러나 진을 치고 있던 군대는, 시므리가 반역하여 왕을 살해하였다는 소식을 듣고서, 바로 그 진에서 그 날로 군사령관인 오므리 장군을 온 이스라엘의 왕으로 세웠다. 오므리는 온 이스라엘을 이끌고 깁브돈으로부터 올라와서, 디르사를 포위하였다. 이 때에 시므리는, 그 성읍이 함락될 것을 알고는, 왕궁의 요새로 들어가서, 그 왕궁에 불을 지르고, 그 불길 속으로 들어가서, 자기도 불에 타 죽었다. 이것은 시므리가, 주님께서 보시기에 악행을 하고, 여로보암의 길을 따라 가서, 이스라엘에게 죄를 짓게 한 그 죄 때문에 생긴 일이다. 시므리의 나머지 행적과 그가 꾀한 모반에 관한 것은 '이스라엘 왕 역대지략'에 기록되어 있다.

Then the people of Israel were split into two factions; half supported Tibni son of Ginath for king, and the other half supported Omri. But Omri's followers proved stronger than those of Tibni son of Ginath. So Tibni died and Omri became king. In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned twelve years, six of them in Tirzah. He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver and built a city on the hill, calling it Samaria, after Shemer, the name of the former owner of the hill. But Omri did evil in the eyes of the LORD and sinned more than all those before him. 그 때에 이스라엘 백성은 둘로 나뉘어, 그 절반은 기낫의 아들 디브니를 따라 가서 그를 왕으로 삼았고, 그 나머지는 오므리를 따랐다. 그러나 오므리를 따르는 백성이 기낫의 아들 디브니를 따르는 백성보다 강하여서, 디브니는 살해되고, 오므리는 왕이 되었다. 유다의 아사 왕 제 삼십일년에 오므리는 이스라엘의 왕이 되어서 열두 해 동안 다스렸는데, 여섯 해 동안은 디르사에서 다스렸다. 그는 세멜에게서 은 두 달란트를 주고, 사마리아 산지를 사들였다. 그리고 그 산에다가 도성을 건설하였는데, 그 산의 소유자인 세멜의 이름을 따라서 그 도성의 이름을 사마리아라고 하였다. 오므리가 주님께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였는데, 그 일의 악한 정도는 그의 이전에 있던 왕들보다 더 심하였다.

He walked in all the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit, so that they provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger by their worthless idols. As for the other events of Omri's reign, what he did and the things he achieved, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel? Omri rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And Ahab his son succeeded him as king. In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab son of Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria over Israel twenty-two years. Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the LORD than any of those before him. 그는 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 걸은 모든 길을 그대로 따랐다. 오므리는 이스라엘에게 죄를 짓게 하고, 또 우상을 만들어서, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 진노하시게 하였다. 오므리가 한 나머지 행적과 그가 부린 권세는, '이스라엘 왕 역대지략'에 모두 기록되어 있다. 오므리는 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들어서 사마리아에 묻히고, 그의 아들 아합이 그의 뒤를 이어서 왕이 되었다. 유다의 아사 왕 제 삼십팔년에 오므리의 아들 아합이 이스라엘의 왕이 되어서, 사마리아에서 이스라엘을 스물두 해 동안 다스렸다. 오므리의 아들 아합은 그 이전에 있던 왕들보다 더 심하게, 주님께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였다.

He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him. He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria. Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger than did all the kings of Israel before him. In Ahab's time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the LORD spoken by Joshua son of Nun. 그는 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄를 따라 가는 정도가 아니라, 오히려 더 앞질렀다. 그는 시돈 왕 엣바알의 딸인 이세벨을 아내로 삼았으며, 더 나아가서 바알을 섬기고 예배하였다. 또 그는 사마리아에 세운 바알의 신전에다가 바알을 섬기는 제단을 세우고, 아세라 목상도 만들어 세웠다. 그래서 그는 그 이전의 이스라엘 왕들보다 더 심하게 주 이스라엘의 하나님을 진노하시게 하였다. 아합 시대에 베델 사람 히엘이 여리고를 건축하였다. 주님께서 눈의 아들 여호수아를 시켜서 하신 주님의 말씀대로, 그는 그 성의 기초를 놓으면서는 그의 맏아들 아비람을 잃었고, 성문을 달면서는 그의 막내 아들 스굽을 잃었다.
