열왕기상 15장

 

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijah became king of Judah, and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother's name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom. He committed all the sins his father had done before him; his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his forefather had been. Nevertheless, for David's sake the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and by making Jerusalem strong. For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not failed to keep any of the LORD's commands all the days of his life--except in the case of Uriah the Hittite. 느밧의 아들 여로보암 왕 제 십팔년에, 아비야가 유다 왕이 되었다. 그는 삼 년 동안 예루살렘에서 다스렸다. 그의 어머니는 아비살롬의 딸 마아가이다. 아비야는 그의 아버지가 지은 죄를 모두 그대로 따라 갔으며, 그의 조상 다윗의 마음과는 달라서, 주 하나님 앞에서 온전하지 못하였다. 그러나 주 하나님께서는 다윗을 생각하셔서, 예루살렘에다가 한 등불을 주시고, 그의 뒤를 이을 아들을 세우셔서, 예루살렘을 굳게 세워 주셨다. 다윗은 주님께서 보시기에 올바르게 살았고, 헷 사람 우리야의 사건 말고는, 그 생애 동안에 주님의 명령을 어긴 일이 없었다.

There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam throughout Abijah's lifetime. As for the other events of Abijah's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. And Abijah rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And Asa his son succeeded him as king. In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa became king of Judah, and he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. His grandmother's name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom. 여로보암과 르호보암 사이에는 그들이 살아 있는 동안 늘 전쟁이 있었고, 아비야와 여로보암 사이에도 전쟁이 있었다. 아비야의 나머지 행적과 그가 한 모든 일이, '유다 왕 역대지략'에 모두 기록되어 있다. 아비야가 죽어서, 그의 조상들과 함께 잠드니, '다윗 성'에 장사지냈고, 그의 아들 아사가 그의 뒤를 이어서 왕이 되었다. 이스라엘의 여로보암 왕 제 이십년에, 아사가 유다 왕이 되어서, 예루살렘을 마흔한 해 동안 다스렸다. 그의 할머니는 아비살롬의 딸 마아가이다.

Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done. He expelled the male shrine prostitutes from the land and got rid of all the idols his fathers had made. He even deposed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive Asherah pole. Asa cut the pole down and burned it in the Kidron Valley. Although he did not remove the high places, Asa's heart was fully committed to the LORD all his life. He brought into the temple of the LORD the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated. 아사는 그의 조상 다윗과 같이 주님께서 보시기에 정직하게 행하였다. 그는 성전 남창들을 나라 밖으로 몰아내고, 조상이 만든 모든 우상을 없애 버렸다. 그리고 그는, 자기 할머니 마아가가 아세라를 섬기는 혐오스러운 상을 만들었다고 해서, 자기의 할머니를 왕 대비의 자리에서 물러나게 하였다. 아사는, 할머니가 만든 혐오스러운 상을 토막내어서, 기드론 시냇가에서 불살라 버렸다. 그렇다고 해서 산당이 모두 제거된 것은 아니지만, 주님을 사모하는 아사의 마음은 평생 한결같았다. 그는 자기의 아버지와 자기가 거룩하게 구별해서 바친 은과 금과 그릇들을, 주님의 성전에 들여놓았다.

There was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their reigns. Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah. Asa then took all the silver and gold that was left in the treasuries of the LORD's temple and of his own palace. He entrusted it to his officials and sent them to Ben-Hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, the king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus. "Let there be a treaty between me and you," he said, "as there was between my father and your father. See, I am sending you a gift of silver and gold. Now break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so he will withdraw from me." Ben-Hadad agreed with King Asa and sent the commanders of his forces against the towns of Israel. He conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel Beth Maacah and all Kinnereth in addition to Naphtali. 아사와 이스라엘 왕 바아사 사이에는, 그들이 살아 있는 동안에 늘 전쟁이 있었다. 이스라엘 왕 바아사가 유다를 치러 올라와서, 라마를 건축하고, 어느 누구도 유다 왕 아사에게 왕래하지 못하게 하였다. 그러자 아사는, 주님의 성전 창고와 왕실 창고에 남아 있는 모든 은과 금을 모아, 그의 신하들의 손에 들려서, 다마스쿠스에 있는 시리아의 헤시온 왕의 아들인 다브림몬의 아들 벤하닷에게 보내면서 말하였다. When Baasha heard this, he stopped building Ramah and withdrew to Tirzah. Then King Asa issued an order to all Judah--no one was exempt--and they carried away from Ramah the stones and timber Baasha had been using there. With them King Asa built up Geba in Benjamin, and also Mizpah. As for all the other events of Asa's reign, all his achievements, all he did and the cities he built, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? In his old age, however, his feet became diseased. Then Asa rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the city of his father David. And Jehoshaphat his son succeeded him as king. Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. 바아사는 이 소문을 듣고는, 라마 건축을 멈추고, 디르사로 거처를 옮겼다. 그리고 아사 왕은 모든 유다 사람에게 명령하여, 한 사람도 빼놓지 않고 모두, 바아사가 라마를 건축할 때에 쓰던 돌과 재목을 가져 오게 하였다. 아사 왕은 이것으로 베냐민의 게바와 미스바를 보수하였다. 아사의 나머지 행적과 그의 권세와, 그가 한 일과 그가 건축한 모든 일이, '유다 왕 역대지략'에 다 기록되어 있다. 그는 늘그막에 이르러서, 발에 병이 났다. 아사가 죽어서 조상들과 함께 잠드니, 그의 조상 '다윗 성'에 조상들과 함께 장사지냈다. 그리고 그의 아들 여호사밧이 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다. 유다의 아사 왕 제 이년에 여로보암의 아들 나답이 이스라엘 왕이 되어서, 두 해 동안 이스라엘을 다스렸다.

He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, walking in the ways of his father and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit. Baasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar plotted against him, and he struck him down at Gibbethon, a Philistine town, while Nadab and all Israel were besieging it. Baasha killed Nadab in the third year of Asa king of Judah and succeeded him as king. As soon as he began to reign, he killed Jeroboam's whole family. He did not leave Jeroboam anyone that breathed, but destroyed them all, according to the word of the LORD given through his servant Ahijah the Shilonite- because of the sins Jeroboam had committed and had caused Israel to commit, and because he provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger. 그러나 그는 주님께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였다. 그도 그의 부친이 걷던 그 악한 길을 그대로 걸었으며, 또 이스라엘에게 죄를 짓게 하는 그 잘못을 그대로 따랐다. 잇사갈 가문의 아히야의 아들인 바아사가 그에게 반기를 들고 일어났다. 나답과 모든 이스라엘이 깁브돈을 포위하였으므로, 바아사는 블레셋의 영토인 깁브돈에서 나답을 쳤다. 바아사는 나답을 죽이고, 그를 대신하여서 왕이 되었는데, 때는 유다의 아사 왕 제 삼년이 되는 해였다. 바아사는 왕이 되자, 여로보암 가문을 쳤는데, 숨 쉬는 사람은 누구든지, 하나도 남기지 않고 모두 전멸시켰다. 주님께서 실로 사람인, 주님의 종 아히야에게 말씀하신 대로 이루어진 것이다. 여로보암이 자기만 죄를 지은 것이 아니라, 이스라엘까지도 죄를 짓게 하였으므로, 주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 진노하셨다.

There was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their reigns. In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of all Israel in Tirzah, and he reigned twenty-four years. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, walking in the ways of Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit. 나답의 나머지 행적과 그가 한 모든 일은 '이스라엘 왕 역대지략'에 다 기록되어 있다. 아사와 이스라엘 왕 바아사 사이에는, 그들이 살아 있는 동안에 늘 전쟁이 있었다. 유다의 아사 왕 제 삼년에 아히야의 아들 바아사가 이스라엘의 왕이 되어서, 디르사에서 스물네 해 동안 다스렸다. 그는 주님께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였고, 여로보암이 걸은 길을 그대로 걸었으며, 이스라엘에게 죄를 짓게 하는 그 죄도 그대로 따라 지었다.
