열왕기하 20장

 

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, "This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover." Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, "Remember, O LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes." And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the LORD came to him: "Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. on the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the LORD. 그 무렵에 히스기야가 병이 들어 거의 죽게 되었는데, 아모스의 아들 이사야 예언자가 그에게 와서 말하였다. "주님, 주님께 빕니다. 제가 주님 앞에서 진실하게 살아온 것과, 온전한 마음으로 순종한 것과, 주님께서 보시기에 선한 일을 한 것을, 기억해 주십시오." 이렇게 기도하고 나서, 히스기야는 한참 동안 흐느껴 울었다. 이사야가 궁전 안뜰을 막 벗어나려 할 때에, 주님께서 이사야에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 되돌아가서 내 백성의 주권자인 히스기야에게 전하여라. '네 조상 다윗을 돌본 나 주 하나님이 말한다. 네가 기도하는 소리를 내가 들었고, 네가 흘리는 눈물도 내가 보았다. 내가 너를 고쳐 주겠다. 사흘 뒤에는 네가 주의 성전으로 올라갈 수 있을 것이다.

I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.' " Then Isaiah said, "Prepare a poultice of figs." They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered. Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, "What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the temple of the LORD on the third day from now?" Isaiah answered, "This is the LORD's sign to you that the LORD will do what he has promised: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or shall it go back ten steps?" "It is a simple matter for the shadow to go forward ten steps," said Hezekiah. "Rather, have it go back ten steps." 내가 너의 목숨을 열다섯 해 더 연장시키고, 너와 이 도성을 앗시리아 왕의 손에서 구하여서, 이 도성을 보호하겠다. 내 명성을 지키기 위해서라도, 그리고 내 종 다윗을 보아서라도, 내가 이 도성을 보호하겠다.'" 그리고 이사야가 왕의 신하들에게, 무화과 반죽을 가져 오라고 하였다. 신하들이 그것을 가져 와서 왕의 상처 위에 붙이니, 왕의 병이 나았다. 히스기야가 이사야에게 말하였다. "주님께서 그 약속하신 바를 그대로 이루실 것을 보여 주는 증거가 여기에 있습니다. 해 그림자를 십 도 앞으로 나아가게 할지, 십 도 뒤로 물러나게 할지, 어떻게 하는 것이 좋을지 말씀해 주십시오." 히스기야가 대답하였다. "해 그림자를 십 도 더 나아가게 하는 것은 쉬운 일인 것 같습니다. 그러므로 그림자가 십 도 뒤로 물러나게 해주십시오."

Then the prophet Isaiah called upon the LORD, and the LORD made the shadow go back the ten steps it had gone down on the stairway of Ahaz. At that time Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent Hezekiah letters and a gift, because he had heard of Hezekiah's illness. Hezekiah received the messengers and showed them all that was in his storehouses--the silver, the gold, the spices and the fine oil--his armory and everything found among his treasures. There was nothing in his palace or in all his kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them. Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, "What did those men say, and where did they come from?" "From a distant land," Hezekiah replied. "They came from Babylon." The prophet asked, "What did they see in your palace?" "They saw everything in my palace," Hezekiah said. "There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them." 이사야 예언자가 주님께 기도를 드린 뒤에, 아하스의 해시계 위로 드리운 그 그림자를 뒤로 십 도 물러나게 하였다. 그 때에 발라단의 아들 바빌로니아의 므로닥발라단 왕이, 히스기야가 병들었다는 소식을 듣고, 친서와 예물을 히스기야에게 보내 왔다. 히스기야는 그들을 반가이 맞아들이고, 보물 창고에 있는 은과 금과 향료와 향유와 무기고와 창고 안에 있는 모든 것을 그들에게 다 보여 주었다. 히스기야는 그들에게 궁궐과 나라 안에 있는 것을 하나도 빠짐없이 모두 다 보여 주었다. 그 때에 이사야 예언자가 히스기야에게 와서 물었다. "이 사람들이 무슨 말을 하였습니까? 이 사람들은 어디에서 온 사람들입니까?" 히스기야가 대답하였다. "그들은 먼 나라 바빌로니아에서 온 사람들입니다." 이사야가 또 물었다. "그들이 임금님의 궁궐에서 무엇을 보았습니까?" 히스기야가 대답하였다. "그들은 나의 궁궐 안에 있는 모든 것을 보았고, 나의 창고 안에 있는 것도, 그들이 못 본 것은 하나도 없습니다."

Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD : The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD. And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, that will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon." "The word of the LORD you have spoken is good," Hezekiah replied. For he thought, "Will there not be peace and security in my lifetime?" As for the other events of Hezekiah's reign, all his achievements and how he made the pool and the tunnel by which he brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 이사야가 히스기야에게 말하였다. "주님의 말씀을 들으십시오. '그 날이 다가오고 있다. 그 날이 오면, 네 왕궁 안에 있는 모든 것과, 오늘까지 네 조상이 저장하여 놓은 모든 보물이, 남김없이 바빌론으로 옮겨 갈 것이다.' 주님께서 또 말씀하십니다. '너에게서 태어날 아들 가운데서 더러는 포로로 끌려가서, 바빌론 왕궁의 환관이 될 것이다.'" 히스기야가 이사야에게 말하였다. "예언자께서 전하여 준 주님의 말씀은 지당한 말씀입니다." 히스기야는 자기가 살아 있는 동안만이라도 평화와 안정이 계속된다면, 그것만으로도 다행이라고 생각하였다. 히스기야의 나머지 행적과, 그가 누린 모든 권력과, 어떻게 그가 저수지를 만들고 수로를 만들어서 도성 안으로 물을 끌어들였는지는 '유다 왕 역대지략'에 기록되어 있다.

Hezekiah rested with his fathers. And Manasseh his son succeeded him as king. 히스기야가 그의 조상과 함께 누워 잠드니, 그의 아들 므낫세가 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.
