So King Solomon ruled over all Israel. And these were his chief officials: Azariah son of Zadok--the priest; Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha--secretaries; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud-recorder; Benaiah son of Jehoiada--commander in chief; Zadok and Abiathar-priests; Azariah son of Nathan--in charge of the district officers; Zabud son of Nathan--a priest and personal adviser to the king; 솔로몬 왕이 온 이스라엘을 다스리는 왕이 되었을 때에, 그가 거느린 고급 관리들은 다음과 같다. 사독의 아들 아사랴는 제사장이고, 시사의 아들 엘리호렙과 아히야는 서기관이고, 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 역사 기록관이고, 여호야다의 아들 브나야는 군사령관이고, 사독과 아비아달은 제사장이고, 나단의 아들 아사랴는 관리를 지휘하는 장관이고, 나단의 아들 사붓은 제사장 겸 왕의 개인 자문관이고,

Ahishar--in charge of the palace; Adoniram son of Abda--in charge of forced labor. Solomon also had twelve district governors over all Israel, who supplied provisions for the king and the royal household. Each one had to provide supplies for one month in the year. These are their names: Ben-Hur--in the hill country of Ephraim; Ben-Deker--in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh and Elon Bethhanan; Ben-Hesed--in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher were his 아히살은 궁내 대신이고, 압다의 아들 아도니람은 강제노역 책임자였다. 솔로몬은 온 이스라엘 지역에다가, 관리를 지휘하는 장관 열둘을 두었는데, 그들은 각각 한 사람이 한 해에 한 달씩, 왕과 왕실에서 쓸 먹거리를 대는 책임을 졌다. 그들의 이름은 다음과 같다. 에브라임 산간지역은 벤훌이 맡았다. 마가스와 사알빔과 벳세메스와 엘론벳하난 지역은 벤데겔이 맡았다. 아룹봇과 소고와 헤벨 전 지역은 벤헤셋이 맡았다.

Ben-Abinadab--in Naphoth Dor (he was married to Taphath daughter of Solomon Baana son of Ahilud--in Taanach and Megiddo, and in all of Beth Shan next to Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth Shan to Abel Meholah across to Jokmeam; Ben-Geber--in Ramoth Gilead (the settlements of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead were his, as well as the district of Argob in Bashan and its sixty large walled cities with bronze gate bars Ahinadab son of Iddo--in Mahanaim; Ahimaaz--in Naphtali (he had married Basemath daughter of Solomon 돌의 고지대 전 지역은 벤아비나답이 맡았는데, 그는 솔로몬의 딸 다밧의 남편이다. 다아낙과 므깃도와 이스르엘 아래 사르단 옆에 있는 벳산 전 지역과 저 멀리 아벨므홀라와 욕느암에 이르는 지역은 아힐룻의 아들 바아나가 맡았다. 길르앗의 라못 지역과 길르앗에 있는 므낫세의 아들 야일의 모든 동네와 바산에 있는 아르곱 지역의 성벽과 놋빗장을 갖춘 예순 개의 큰 성읍은 벤게벨이 맡았다. 마하나임 지역은 잇도의 아들 아히나답이 맡았다. 납달리 지역은 솔로몬의 딸 바스맛의 남편 아히마아스가 맡았다.

Baana son of Hushai--in Asher and in Aloth; Jehoshaphat son of Paruah--in Issachar; Shimei son of Ela--in Benjamin; Geber son of Uri--in Gilead (the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and the country of Og king of Bashan). He was the only governor over the district. The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy. 야셀과 아롯 지역은 후새의 아들 바아나가 맡았다. 잇사갈 지역은 바루아의 아들 여호사밧이 맡았다. 베냐민 지역은 엘라의 아들 시므이가 맡았다. 길르앗 땅은 우리의 아들 게벨이 맡았다. 이 곳 길르앗은 아모리 사람의 왕 시혼과 바산 왕 옥의 땅이었다. 이 열둘 밖에도, 온 땅을 맡아서 관리하는 장관이 따로 있었다. 유다와 이스라엘에는 인구가 늘어나서, 마치 바닷가의 모래알처럼 사람이 많아졌지만, 먹고 마시는 것에 모자람이 없었으므로, 백성들이 잘 지냈다.

And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon's subjects all his life. Solomon's daily provisions were thirty cors of fine flour and sixty cors of meal, ten head of stall-fed cattle, twenty of pasture-fed cattle and a hundred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks and choice fowl. For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and had peace on all sides. During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, each man under his own vine and fig tree. 솔로몬은 유프라테스 강에서부터 블레셋 영토에 이르기까지, 또 이집트의 국경에 이르기까지, 모든 왕국을 다스리고, 그 왕국들은 솔로몬이 살아 있는 동안, 조공을 바치면서 솔로몬을 섬겼다. 솔로몬이 쓰는 하루 먹거리는 잘 빻은 밀가루 서른 섬과 거친 밀가루 예순 섬과 살진 소 열 마리와 목장 소 스무 마리와 양 백 마리이고, 그 밖에 수사슴과 노루와 암사슴과 살진 새 들이었다. 솔로몬은 유프라테스 강 이쪽에 있는 모든 지역 곧 딥사에서부터 가사에 이르기까지, 유프라테스 강 서쪽의 모든 왕을 다스리며, 주위의 모든 민족과 평화를 유지하였다. 그래서 솔로몬의 일생 동안에 단에서부터 브엘세바에 이르기까지, 유다와 이스라엘의 모든 사람은 저마다 자기의 포도나무와 무화과나무 아래에서 평화를 누리며 살았다.

Solomon had four thousand stalls for chariot horses, and twelve thousand horses. The district officers, each in his month, supplied provisions for King Solomon and all who came to the king's table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking. They also brought to the proper place their quotas of barley and straw for the chariot horses and the other horses. God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. 솔로몬은 전차를 끄는 말을 두는 마구간 사만 칸과 군마 만 이천 필을 가지고 있었다. 그리고 솔로몬의 관리들은 각자 자기가 책임진 달에, 솔로몬 왕과 솔로몬 왕의 식탁에 참석하는 모든 사람이 먹을 수 있도록, 부족하지 않게 먹거리를 조달하였다. 또한 군마와 역마에게 먹일 보리와 보리짚도 각각 자기의 분담량에 따라서, 말이 있는 곳으로 가져 왔다. 하나님께서 솔로몬에게 지혜와 총명과 넓은 마음을 바닷가의 모래알처럼 한없이 많이 주시니, 솔로몬의 지혜는 동양의 어느 누구보다도, 또 이집트의 어느 누구보다도 더 뛰어났다.

He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite--wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. He described plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also taught about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. Men of all nations came to listen to Solomon's wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom. 그는 어느 누구보다도 더 지혜로웠다. 예스라 사람 에단과 마홀의 아들 헤만과 갈골과 다르다보다도 더 지혜로웠으므로, 그의 명성은 주위의 모든 민족 가운데 자자하였다. 그는 삼천 가지의 잠언을 말하였고, 천다섯 편의 노래를 지었고, 레바논에 있는 백향목으로부터 벽에 붙어서 사는 우슬초에 이르기까지, 모든 초목을 놓고 논할 수 있었고, 짐승과 새와 기어다니는 것과 물고기를 두고서도 가릴 것 없이 논할 수 있었다. 그래서 그의 지혜에 관한 소문을 들은 모든 백성과 지상의 모든 왕은, 솔로몬의 지혜를 들어서 배우려고 몰려 왔다.
