사무엘상 3장

 

The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions. One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was. Then the LORD called Samuel. Samuel answered, "Here I am." And he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." But Eli said, "I did not call; go back and lie down." So he went and lay down. 어린 사무엘이 엘리 곁에서 주님을 섬기고 있을 때이다. 그 때에는 주님께서 말씀을 해주시는 일이 드물었고, 환상도 자주 나타나지 않았다. 어느 날 밤, 엘리가 잠자리에 누워 있을 때였다. 그는 이미 눈이 어두워져서 잘 볼 수가 없었다. 사무엘은 하나님의 궤가 있는 주님의 성전에서 잠자리에 누워 있었다. 이른 새벽, 하나님의 등불이 아직 환하게 밝혀져 있을 때에, 주님께서 "사무엘아, 사무엘아!" 하고 부르셨다. 그는 "제가 여기 있습니다" 하고 대답하고서, 곧 엘리에게 달려가서 "부르셨습니까? 제가 여기 왔습니다" 하고 말하였다. 그러나 엘리는 "나는 너를 부르지 않았다. 도로 가서 누워라" 하고 말하였다. 사무엘이 다시 가서 누웠다.

Again the LORD called, "Samuel!" And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." "My son," Eli said, "I did not call; go back and lie down." Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD : The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. The LORD called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.' " So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening." 주님께서 다시 "사무엘아!" 하고 부르셨다. 사무엘이 일어나 엘리에게 가서 "부르셨습니까? 제가 여기 왔습니다" 하고 말하였다. 그러나 엘리는 "얘야, 나는 너를 부르지 않았다. 도로 가서 누워라" 하고 말하였다. 이 때까지 사무엘은 주님을 알지 못하였고, 주님의 말씀이 그에게 나타난 적도 없었다. 주님께서 사무엘을 세 번째 부르셨다. 사무엘이 일어나 엘리에게 가서 "부르셨습니까? 제가 여기 왔습니다" 하고 말하였다. 그제야 엘리는, 주님께서 그 소년을 부르신다는 것을 깨닫고, 사무엘에게 일러주었다. "가서 누워 있거라. 누가 너를 부르거든 '주님, 말씀하십시오. 주님의 종이 듣고 있습니다' 하고 대답하여라." 사무엘이 자리로 돌아가서 누웠다. 그런 뒤에 주님께서 다시 찾아와 곁에 서서, 조금 전처럼 "사무엘아, 사무엘아!" 하고 부르셨다. 사무엘은 "말씀하십시오. 주님의 종이 듣고 있습니다" 하고 대답하였다.

And the LORD said to Samuel: "See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle. At that time I will carry out against Eli everything I spoke against his family--from beginning to end. For I told him that I would judge his family forever because of the sin he knew about; his sons made themselves contemptible, and he failed to restrain them. Therefore, I swore to the house of Eli, 'The guilt of Eli's house will never be atoned for by sacrifice or offering.' " Samuel lay down until morning and then opened the doors of the house of the LORD. He was afraid to tell Eli the vision, 주님께서 사무엘에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 이제 이스라엘에서 어떤 일을 하려고 한다. 그것을 듣는 사람마다 무서워서 귀까지 멍멍해질 것이다. 때가 오면, 내가 엘리의 집을 두고 말한 모든 것을, 처음부터 끝까지 다 이루겠다. 엘리는, 자기의 아들들이 스스로 저주받을 일을 하는 줄 알면서도, 자식들을 책망하지 않았다. 그 죄를 그는 이미 알고 있다. 그래서 나는, 그의 집을 심판하여 영영 없애 버리겠다고, 그에게 알려 주었다. 그러므로 나는 엘리의 집을 두고 맹세한다. 엘리의 집 죄악은, 제물이나 예물로도 영영 씻지 못할 것이다." 사무엘은 아침이 밝을 때까지 누워 있다가, 주님의 집 문들을 열었다. 그러나 사무엘은 자기가 환상으로 보고 들은 것을 엘리에게 알리기를 두려워하였다.

but Eli called him and said, "Samuel, my son." Samuel answered, "Here I am." "What was it he said to you?" Eli asked. "Do not hide it from me. May God deal with you, be it ever so severely, if you hide from me anything he told you." So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said, "He is the LORD; let him do what is good in his eyes." The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground. And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the LORD. 엘리가 사무엘을 불렀다. 그는 "내 아들 사무엘아!" 하고 불렀다. "예, 제가 여기에 있습니다" 하고 사무엘이 대답하였다. 엘리가 물었다. "주님께서 너에게 무슨 말씀을 하시더냐? 나에게 아무것도 숨기지 말아라. 주님께서 너에게 하신 말씀 가운데서 한 마디라도 나에게 숨기면, 하나님이 너에게 심한 벌을 내리고 또 내리실 것이다." 사무엘은 그에게 하나도 숨기지 않고 모든 것을 말하였다. 엘리가 말하였다. "그분은 주님이시다! 그분께서는 뜻하신 대로 하실 것이다." 사무엘이 자랄 때에, 주님께서 그와 함께 계셔서, 사무엘이 한 말이 하나도 어긋나지 않고 다 이루어지게 하셨다. 그리하여 단에서 브엘세바까지 온 이스라엘은, 사무엘이 주님께서 세우신 예언자임을 알게 되었다.

The LORD continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. 주님께서는 실로에서 계속하여 자신을 나타내셨다. 거기에서 주님께서는 사무엘에게 나타나셔서 말씀하셨다.
