에베소서 2장

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved. 여러분도 전에는 허물과 죄로 죽었던 사람들입니다. 그 때에 여러분은 허물과 죄 가운데서, 이 세상의 풍조를 따라 살고, 공중의 권세를 잡은 통치자, 곧 지금 불순종의 자식들 가운데서 작용하는 영을 따라 살았습니다. 우리도 모두 전에는, 그들 가운데에서 육신의 정욕대로 살고, 육신과 마음이 원하는 대로 행했으며, 나머지 사람들과 마찬가지로 날 때부터 진노의 자식이었습니다. 그러나 하나님은 자비가 넘치는 분이셔서, 우리를 사랑하신 그 크신 사랑으로 말미암아 범죄로 죽은 우리를 그리스도와 함께 살려 주셨습니다. 여러분은 은혜로 구원을 얻었습니다.

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. 하나님께서 그리스도 예수 안에서 우리를 그분과 함께 살리시고, 하늘에 함께 앉게 하셨습니다. 그것은, 하나님께서 그리스도 예수 안에서 우리에게 자비로 베풀어주신 그 은혜가 얼마나 풍성한지를 장차 올 모든 세대에게 드러내 보이시기 위함입니다. 여러분은 믿음을 통하여 은혜로 구원을 얻었습니다. 이것은 여러분에게서 난 것이 아니요, 하나님의 선물입니다. 행위에서 난 것이 아닙니다. 그러므로 아무도 자랑할 수 없습니다. 우리는 하나님의 작품입니다. 선한 일을 하게 하시려고, 하나님께서 그리스도 예수 안에서 우리를 만드셨습니다. 하나님께서 이렇게 미리 준비하신 것은, 우리가 선한 일을 하며 살아가게 하시려는 것입니다.

Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)-- remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 원수 된 것을 십자가로 소멸하시고 이 둘을 한 몸으로 만드셔서, 하나님과 화해시키셨습니다. 그분은 오셔서 멀리 떨어져 있는 여러분에게 평화를 전하셨으며, 가까이 있는 사람들에게도 평화를 전하셨습니다. 이방 사람과 유대 사람 양쪽 모두, 그리스도를 통하여 한 성령 안에서 아버지께 나아가게 되었습니다. 그러므로 이제부터 여러분은 외국 사람이나 나그네가 아니요, 성도들과 함께 시민이며 하나님의 가족입니다. 여러분은 사도들과 예언자들이 놓은 기초 위에 세워진 건물이며, 그리스도 예수가 그 모퉁잇돌이 되십니다.

In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. 그리스도 안에서 건물 전체가 서로 연결되어서, 주님 안에서 자라서 성전이 됩니다. 그리스도 안에서 여러분도 함께 세워져서 하나님이 성령으로 거하실 처소가 됩니다.
