열왕기하 24장

 

During Jehoiakim's reign, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded the land, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. But then he changed his mind and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar. The LORD sent Babylonian, Aramean, Moabite and Ammonite raiders against him. He sent them to destroy Judah, in accordance with the word of the LORD proclaimed by his servants the prophets. Surely these things happened to Judah according to the LORD's command, in order to remove them from his presence because of the sins of Manasseh and all he had done, including the shedding of innocent blood. For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the LORD was not willing to forgive. As for the other events of Jehoiakim's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 여호야김이 다스리던 해에, 바빌로니아의 느부갓네살 왕이 쳐들어왔다. 여호야김은 그의 신하가 되어 세 해 동안 그를 섬겼으나, 세 해가 지나자, 돌아서서 느부갓네살에게 반역하였다. 주님께서는 바빌로니아 군대와 시리아 군대와 모압 군대와 암몬 자손의 군대를 보내셔서, 여호야김과 싸우게 하셨다. 이와 같이 주님께서 그들을 보내신 것은, 자기의 종 예언자들을 시켜서 하신 말씀대로, 유다를 쳐서 멸망시키려는 것이었다. 이것은, 므낫세가 지은 그 죄 때문에 그들을 주님 앞에서 내쫓으시겠다고 하신 주님의 말씀이, 유다에게서 성취된 일이었다. 더욱이 죄 없는 사람을 죽여 예루살렘을 죄 없는 사람의 피로 가득 채운 그의 죄를, 주님께서는 결코 용서하실 수 없으셨기 때문이다. 여호야김의 나머지 행적과 그가 한 모든 일은 '유다 왕 역대지략'에 기록되어 있다.

Jehoiakim rested with his fathers. And Jehoiachin his son succeeded him as king. The king of Egypt did not march out from his own country again, because the king of Babylon had taken all his territory, from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River. Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother's name was Nehushta daughter of Elnathan; she was from Jerusalem. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father had done. At that time the officers of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon advanced on Jerusalem and laid siege to it, 여호야김이 그의 조상과 함께 누워 잠드니, 그의 아들 여호야긴이 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다. 바빌로니아 왕이 이집트의 강에서부터 유프라테스 강까지, 이집트 왕에게 속한 땅을 모두 점령하였으므로, 이집트 왕은 다시는 더 국경 밖으로 나오지 못하였다. 여호야긴은 왕이 되었을 때에 열여덟 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 석 달 동안 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 느후스다는 예루살렘 출신인 엘라단의 딸이다. 여호야긴은 조상이 하였던 것처럼, 주님께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였다. 그 때에 바빌로니아의 느부갓네살 왕의 군대가 예루살렘을 치러 올라와서, 이 도성을 포위하였다.

and Nebuchadnezzar himself came up to the city while his officers were besieging it. Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his attendants, his nobles and his officials all surrendered to him. In the eighth year of the reign of the king of Babylon, he took Jehoiachin prisoner. As the LORD had declared, Nebuchadnezzar removed all the treasures from the temple of the LORD and from the royal palace, and took away all the gold articles that Solomon king of Israel had made for the temple of the LORD. He carried into exile all Jerusalem: all the officers and fighting men, and all the craftsmen and artisans--a total of ten thousand. only the poorest people of the land were left. Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin captive to Babylon. He also took from Jerusalem to Babylon the king's mother, his wives, his officials and the leading men of the land. 이렇게 그의 군대가 포위하고 있는 동안에, 바빌로니아의 느부갓네살 왕이 이 도성에 도착하였다. 그리하여 유다의 여호야긴 왕은 그의 어머니와 신하들과 지휘관들과 내시들과 함께 바빌로니아 왕을 맞으러 나갔다. 그러나 바빌로니아 왕은 오히려 여호야긴을 사로잡아 갔다. 때는 바빌로니아 왕 제 팔년이었다. 그리고 느부갓네살은 주님의 성전 안에 있는 보물과 왕궁 안에 있는 보물들을 모두 탈취하여 갔고, 이스라엘의 솔로몬 왕이 만든 주님의 성전의 금그릇들을 모두 산산조각 내어서 깨뜨려 버렸다. 이것은 주님께서 미리 말씀하신 대로 된 일이다. 더욱이 그는 예루살렘의 모든 주민과, 관리와 용사 만 명 뿐만 아니라, 모든 기술자와 대장장이를 사로잡아 갔다. 그래서 그 땅에는 아주 가난한 사람들 말고는 하나도 남지 않았다. 느부갓네살은 여호야긴 왕을 바빌론으로 사로잡아 갔다. 그의 어머니와 왕비들과 내시들과 그 땅의 고관들을 모두 예루살렘에서 바빌론으로 사로잡아 갔다.

The king of Babylon also deported to Babylon the entire force of seven thousand fighting men, strong and fit for war, and a thousand craftsmen and artisans. He made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's uncle, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah. Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother's name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, just as Jehoiakim had done. It was because of the LORD's anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust them from his presence. Now Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. 또 칠천 명의 용사와 천 명의 기술자와 대장장이를 바빌론으로 사로잡아 갔는데, 이들은 모두 뛰어난 용사요, 훈련된 전사들이었다. 바빌로니아 왕이 여호야긴의 삼촌 맛다니야를 여호야긴 대신에 왕으로 세우고, 그의 이름을 시드기야로 고치게 하였다. 시드기야가 왕이 되었을 때에, 그는 스물한 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 열한 해 동안 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 하무달은 리블라 출신으로 예레미야의 딸이다. 그는 여호야김이 하였던 것과 똑같이, 주님께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였다. 예루살렘과 유다가 주님을 그토록 진노하시게 하였기 때문에, 주님께서는 마침내 그들을 주님 앞에서 쫓아내셨다. 시드기야가 바빌로니아 왕에게 반기를 들었으므로,
