창세기 35장

Then God said to Jacob, "Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau." So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes. Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone." So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem. Then they set out, and the terror of God fell upon the towns all around them so that no one pursued them. 하나님이 야곱에게 말씀하셨다. "어서 베델로 올라가, 거기에서 살아라. 네가 너의 형 에서 앞에서 피해 도망칠 때에, 너에게 나타난 그 하나님께 제단을 쌓아서 바쳐라." 야곱은, 자기의 가족과 자기가 거느리고 있는 모든 사람에게 명령하였다. "너희가 가지고 있는 이방 신상들을 다 버려라. 몸을 깨끗이 씻고, 옷을 갈아입어라. 이제 우리는 이 곳을 떠나서, 베델로 올라간다. 거기에다 나는, 내가 고생할 때에 나의 간구를 들어 주시고, 내가 가는 길 어디에서나 나와 함께 다니면서 보살펴 주신, 그 하나님께 제단을 쌓아서 바치고자 한다." 그들은, 자기들이 가지고 있는 모든 이방 신상과 귀에 걸고 있는 귀고리를 야곱에게 가져 왔다. 야곱은 그것들을 세겜 근처 상수리나무 밑에 묻었다. 그런 다음에 그들은 길을 떠났다. 하나님이 사방에 있는 모든 성읍 사람을 두려워 떨게 하셨으므로, 아무도 야곱의 아들들을 추격하지 못하였다.

Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan. There he built an altar, and he called the place El Bethel, because it was there that God revealed himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother. Now Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried under the oak below Bethel. So it was named Allon Bacuth. After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him. God said to him, "Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel. And God said to him, "I am God Almighty ; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will come from your body. The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you." Then God went up from him at the place where he had talked with him. Jacob set up a stone pillar at the place where God had talked with him, and he poured out a drink offering on it; he also poured oil on it. Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel. 하나님이 그에게 말씀하셨다. Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and had great difficulty. And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife said to her, "Don't be afraid, for you have another son." As she breathed her last--for she was dying--she named her son Ben-Oni. But his father named him Benjamin. So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). Over her tomb Jacob set up a pillar, and to this day that pillar marks Rachel's tomb. 그들이 베델을 떠나 에브랏에 아직 채 이르기 전에, 라헬이 몸을 풀게 되었는데, 고통이 너무 심하였다. 아이를 낳느라고 산고에 시달리는데, 산파가 라헬에게 말하였다. Israel moved on again and pitched his tent beyond Migdal Eder. While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father's concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard of it. Jacob had twelve sons: The sons of Leah: Reuben the firstborn of Jacob, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun. The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin. The sons of Rachel's maidservant Bilhah: Dan and Naphtali. 이스라엘이 다시 길을 떠나서, 에델 망대 건너편에 자리를 잡고 장막을 쳤다. 이스라엘이 바로 그 지역에서 머물 때에, 르우벤이 아버지의 첩 빌하를 범하였는데, 이스라엘에게 이 소식이 들어갔다. 야곱의 아들은 열둘이다. 레아에게서 얻은 아들은 야곱의 맏아들 르우벤과 시므온과 레위와 유다와 잇사갈과 스불론이다. 라헬에게서 얻은 아들은, 요셉과 베냐민이다. 라헬의 몸종 빌하에게서 얻은 아들은 단과 납달리이다.

The sons of Leah's maidservant Zilpah: Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddan Aram. Jacob came home to his father Isaac in Mamre, near Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed. Isaac lived a hundred and eighty years. Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him. 레아의 몸종 실바에게서 얻은 아들은 갓과 아셀이다. 이들은 모두 야곱이 밧단아람에서 얻은 아들들이다. 야곱이 기럇아르바 근처 마므레로 가서, 자기 아버지 이삭에게 이르렀다. 기럇아르바는 아브라함과 이삭이 살던 헤브론이다. 이삭의 나이는 백여든 살이었다. 이삭은 늙고, 나이가 들어서, 목숨이 다하자, 죽어서 조상들 곁으로 갔다. 아들 에서와 야곱이 그를 안장하였다.
