히브리서 3장

Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future. 그러므로 하느님의 부르심을 함께 받은 성도 여러분, 하느님께서 보내주신 우리 신앙의 대사제이신 예수를 생각하십시오. 모세가 하느님의 온 집안을 위해서 충실하게 일했듯이 그분도 당신을 세우신 분을 위해서 충실하게 일하셨습니다. 예수께서는 모세보다 더 큰 영광을 받으실 자격을 가지셨습니다. 사실 집보다는 그 집을 지은 사람이 더 큰 영광을 누리게 마련입니다. 어느 집이든지 그 집을 지은 사람이 있습니다. 그런데 만물을 지으신 분은 바로 하느님이십니다. 모세는 한갓 종으로서 하느님의 온 집안 일에 충실했으며 하느님께서 장차 말씀하시려는 것을 증언하였습니다.

But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast. So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert, where your fathers tested and tried me and for forty years saw what I did. That is why I was angry with that generation, and I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.' 그러나 예수께서는 하느님의 아들로서 하느님의 온 집안 일을 다스리는 데 충실하셨습니다. 우리가 가진 희망에 대하여 확신을 가지고 또 그것을 자랑스럽게 여기는 한, 우리는 하느님의 집안 사람들입니다. 그러므로 성령께서는 이렇게 말씀하십니다. "너희가 오늘 하느님의 음성을 듣거든 광야에서 유혹을 받고 반역하던 때처럼 완악한 마음을 품지 마라. 너희 조상들은 사십 년 동안이나 하느님께서 하시는 일을 보고도 하느님을 시험삼아 떠보았다. 그러므로 하느님께서 그 세대를 보시고 노하시며 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '그들은 언제나 마음이 빗나가서 나의 길을 알지 못하였다.

So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.' " See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion." 내가 노하여 맹세한 대로 그들은 결코 내 안식처에 들어오지 못하리라.'" 형제 여러분, 여러분 중에는 믿지 않는 악한 마음을 품고 살아 계신 하느님께로부터 떨어져 나가는 사람이 없도록 조심하십시오. 성서에 "오늘"이라고 한 말은 우리에게도 해당하는 말이니 날마다 서로 격려해서 아무도 죄의 속임수에 넘어가 고집부리는 일이 없도록 하십시오. 우리가 처음의 확신을 끝까지 지켜 나가면 그리스도와 함께 상속자가 될 수 있습니다. 성서에도 이런 말씀이 있습니다. "너희가 오늘 하느님의 음성을 듣거든 반역하던 때처럼 완악한 마음을 품지 마라."

Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief. 그분의 음성을 듣고도 반역한 자들은 누구였습니까? 모두 모세의 인도를 받아 이집트를 빠져 나온 사람들이 아니었습니까? 사십 년 동안이나 하느님을 노엽게 한 사람은 누구였습니까? 죄를 지은 자들이 아니었습니까? 그들은 죽어서 시체가 광야에 널려 있었습니다. 하느님께서 결코 당신의 안식처에 들어가지 못하리라고 하신 것은 누구에게 하신 맹세였습니까? 순종하지 않는 자들에게 하신 것이 아닙니까? 그러니 그들이 안식처에 들어가지 못한 것은 결국은 믿지 않았던 탓이라는 것을 알 수 있습니다.
