- An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children
believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.
- Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be
blameless--not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not
violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.
- Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good,
who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.
- He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has
been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those
who oppose it.
- For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and
deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group.

- 장로는 흠잡을 데가 없어야 하며, 한 아내의 남편이라야 하며, 그 자녀가 신자라야 하며, 방탕하다거나
순종하지 않는다는 비난을 받지 않아야 합니다.
- 감독은 하나님의 청지기로서, 흠잡을 데가 없으며, 자기 고집대로 하지 아니하며, 쉽게 성내지 아니하며,
술을 즐기지 아니하며, 폭행하지 아니하며, 부정한 이득을 탐하지 아니하는 사람이라야 합니다.
- 오히려 그는 손님을 잘 대접하며, 선행을 좋아하며, 신중하며, 의로우며, 경건하며,
자제력이 있으며,
- 신실한 말씀의 가르침을 굳게 지키는 사람이라야 합니다. 그래야 그는 건전한 교훈으로 권면하고, 반대자들을
반박할 수 있을 것입니다.
- 복종하지 아니하며 헛된 말을 하며 속이는 사람이 많이 있는데, 특히 할례를 받은 사람 가운데 많이
있습니다.
