고린도후서 9장

There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the saints. For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action. But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be. For if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we--not to say anything about you--would be ashamed of having been so confident. So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given. 유대에 있는 성도들을 돕는 일을 두고, 나는 더 이상 여러분에게 글을 써 보낼 필요가 없습니다. 여러분의 열성을 내가 알고 있기 때문입니다. 나는 마케도니아 사람들에게 "아가야에서는 지난 해부터 준비가 되어 있다" 하고 자랑하고 있습니다. 여러분의 열성을 듣고서, 많은 사람이 분발하였습니다. 내가 이 형제들을 보낸 것은, 우리가 이 일로 여러분을 자랑한 것이 헛된 말이 되지 않게 하려는 것이고, 내가 말한 대로 여러분이 준비하고 있게 하려는 것입니다. 혹시 마케도니아 사람들이 나와 함께 그리로 가서, 여러분이 준비하고 있지 않은 것을 보게 되면, 여러분은 말할 것도 없고, 우리가 이런 확신을 가진 것 때문에 부끄러움을 당하지 않을까 하고 염려합니다. 그러므로 나는 그 형제들에게 청하여, 나보다 먼저 여러분에게로 가서, 여러분이 전에 약속한 선물을 준비해 놓게 하는 것이 필요하다고 생각하였습니다. 이렇게 해서 이 선물은, 마지못해서 낸 것이 아니라 기쁜 마음으로 마련한 것이 됩니다.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 요점은 이러합니다. 적게 심는 사람은 적게 거두고, 많이 심는 사람은 많이 거둡니다. 각자 마음에 정한 대로 해야 하고, 아까워하면서 내거나, 마지못해서 하는 일은 없어야 합니다. 하나님께서는 기쁜 마음으로 내는 사람을 사랑하십니다. 하나님께서는 여러분에게 온갖 은혜가 넘치게 하실 수 있습니다. 그러하므로 여러분은 모든 일에 언제나, 쓸 것을 넉넉하게 가지게 되어서, 온갖 선한 일을 얼마든지 할 수 있습니다. 이것은 성경에 기록한 바 "그가 가난한 사람들에게 아낌없이 뿌려 주셨으니, 그의 의가 영원히 있다" 한 것과 같습니다. 심는 사람에게 심을 씨와 먹을 양식을 공급하여 주시는 하나님께서, 여러분에게도 씨를 마련하여 주시고, 그것을 여러 갑절로 늘려 주시고, 여러분의 의의 열매를 증가시켜 주실 것입니다.

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many ｅxpressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! 하나님께서 여러분을 모든 일에 부요하게 하시므로, 여러분이 후하게 헌금을 하게 될 것입니다. 우리가 여러분의 헌금을 전달하면, 많은 사람이 하나님께 감사를 드리게 될 것입니다. 여러분이 수행하는 이 봉사의 일은 성도들의 궁핍을 채워줄 뿐만 아니라, 많은 사람들로 하여금, 하나님께 감사를 넘치게 드리게 할 것입니다. 여러분의 이 봉사의 결과로, 그들은 하나님께 영광을 돌릴 것입니다. 그것은 여러분이 하나님께 순종하여, 그리스도의 복음을 고백하고, 또 그들과 모든 다른 사람에게 너그럽게 도움을 보낸다는 사실이 입증되었기 때문입니다. 그들은 또한 여러분에게 주신 하나님의 넘치는 은혜 때문에 여러분을 그리워하면서, 여러분을 두고 기도할 것입니다. 말로 다 형언할 수 없는 선물을 주시는 하나님께 감사합니다.
