로마서 14장

Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 여러분은 믿음이 약한 이를 받아들이고, 그의 생각을 시비거리로 삼지 마십시오. 어떤 사람은 모든 것을 다 먹을 수 있다고 생각하지만, 믿음이 약한 사람은 채소만 먹습니다. 먹는 사람은 먹지 않는 사람을 업신여기지 말고, 먹지 않는 사람은 먹는 사람을 비판하지 마십시오. 하나님께서는 그 사람도 받아들이셨습니다. 우리가 누구이기에 남의 종을 비판합니까? 그가 서 있든지 넘어지든지, 그것은 그 주인이 상관할 일입니다. 주님께서 그를 서 있게 할 수 있으시니, 그는 서 있게 될 것입니다. 또 어떤 사람은 이 날이 저 날보다 더 중요하다고 생각하고, 또 어떤 사람은 모든 날이 다 같다고 생각합니다. 각각 자기 마음에 확신을 가져야 합니다.

He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. 어떤 날을 더 존중히 여기는 사람도 주님을 위하여 그렇게 하는 것이요, 먹는 사람도 주님을 위하여 먹으며, 먹을 때에 하나님께 감사를 드립니다. 그리고 먹지 않는 사람도 주님을 위하여 먹지 않으며, 또한 하나님께 감사를 드립니다. 우리 가운데는 자기만을 위하여 사는 사람도 없고, 또 자기만을 위하여 죽는 사람도 없습니다. 우리는 살아도 주님을 위하여 살고, 죽어도 주님을 위하여 죽습니다. 그러므로 우리는 살든지 죽든지 주님의 것입니다. 그리스도께서 죽으셨다가 살아나신 것은, 죽은 사람에게도 산 사람에게도, 다 주님이 되시려는 것이었습니다. 그런데 어찌하여 그대는 형제나 자매를 비판합니까? 어찌하여 그대는 형제나 자매를 업신여깁니까? 우리는 모두 다 하나님의 심판대 앞에 서게 될 것입니다.

It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' " So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. 성경에는 이렇게 기록되어 있습니다. "주님께서 말씀을 하신다. 내가 살아 있으니, 모든 무릎이 내 앞에 꿇을 것이요, 모든 입이 나 하나님을 찬양할 것이다." 그러므로 우리는 각각 자기 일을 하나님께 사실대로 아뢰어야 할 것입니다. 그러므로 이제부터는 서로 남을 심판하지 마십시다. 형제자매 앞에 장애물이나 걸림돌을 놓지 않겠다고 결심하십시오. 내가 주 예수 안에서 알고 또 확신하는 것은 이것입니다. 무엇이든지 그 자체로 부정한 것은 없고, 다만 부정하다고 여기는 그 사람에게는 부정한 것입니다. 그대가 음식 문제로 형제자매의 마음을 상하게 하면, 그것은 이미 사랑을 따라 살지 않는 것입니다. 음식 문제로 그 사람을 망하게 하지 마십시오. 그리스도께서 그 사람을 위하여 죽으셨습니다.

Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 그러므로 여러분이 좋다고 여기는 일이 도리어 비방거리가 되지 않도록 하십시오. 하나님의 나라는 먹는 일과 마시는 일이 아니라, 성령 안에서 누리는 의와 평화와 기쁨입니다. 그리스도를 이렇게 섬기는 사람은, 하나님을 기쁘게 해 드리고, 사람에게도 인정을 받습니다. 그러므로 우리는 서로 화평을 도모하는 일과, 서로 덕을 세우는 일에 힘을 씁시다. 하나님이 이룩해 놓으신 것을 음식 때문에 망치는 일이 없도록 하십시오. 모든 것이 다 깨끗합니다. 그러나 어떤 것을 먹음으로써 남을 넘어지게 하면, 그러한 사람에게는 그것이 해롭습니다.

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall. So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. 고기를 먹는다든가, 술을 마신다든가, 그 밖에 무엇이든지, 형제나 자매를 걸려 넘어지게 하는 일은 하지 않는 것이 좋습니다. 그대가 지니고 있는 신념을 하나님 앞에서 스스로 간직하십시오. 자기가 옳다고 생각하는 일을 하면서 자기를 정죄하지 않는 사람은 복이 있습니다. 의심을 하면서 먹는 사람은 이미 단죄를 받은 것입니다. 그것은 믿음에 근거해서 한 것이 아니기 때문입니다. 믿음에 근거하지 않는 것은 다 죄입니다.
