역대하 15장

 

The Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought him, and he was found by them. In those days it was not safe to travel about, for all the inhabitants of the lands were in great turmoil. 하나님의 영이 오뎃의 아들 아사랴에게 내리니, 그가 아사 앞에 나아가서 다음과 같이 말하였다. "아사 임금님과 온 유다와 베냐민은, 제가 하는 말을 들으십시오. 임금님과 백성이 주님을 떠나지 않는 한, 주님께서도 임금님과 백성을 떠나지 않으실 것입니다. 임금님과 백성이 그를 찾으면, 그가 만나 주실 것입니다. 그러나 임금님과 백성이 그를 버리면, 주님께서도 임금님과 백성을 버리실 것입니다. 이스라엘은 오랫동안 참 하나님이 없이 지내 왔습니다. 가르치는 제사장도 없었고 율법도 없었습니다. 그러나 이스라엘이 어려운 일을 만나서, 주 이스라엘의 하나님께 돌아와 그를 찾으면, 주님께서는 그들을 만나 주셨습니다. 그 때에는 세상이 하도 어지러워서, 땅 위에 사는 모든 백성이 마음 놓고 평안히 나들이도 못하였습니다.

One nation was being crushed by another and one city by another, because God was troubling them with every kind of distress. But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded." When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage. He removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the towns he had captured in the hills of Ephraim. He repaired the altar of the LORD that was in front of the portico of the LORD's temple. Then he assembled all Judah and Benjamin and the people from Ephraim, Manasseh and Simeon who had settled among them, for large numbers had come over to him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him. They assembled at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa's reign. 나라와 나라가, 성읍과 성읍이 서로 치고 무찌르는 판이었습니다. 이것은 하나님께서 사람들이 온갖 고난 속에서 고통을 받도록 버려 두셨기 때문이었습니다. 그러나 임금님과 백성은 기운을 내십시오. 낙심하지 마십시오. 임금님과 백성이 하는 수고에는 상급이 따를 것입니다." 아사는 이 모든 말, 곧 오뎃의 아들 아사랴 예언자가 전하여 주는 예언을 듣고, 용기를 내어, 유다와 베냐민 온 지방과 에브라임 산간지역의 점령지역 성읍에서 역겨운 물건들을 없애 버렸다. 그는 또 주님의 성전 현관 앞에 있는 주님의 제단을 보수하였다. 그는 또 유다와 베냐민의 모든 백성을 불러모으고, 그들에게로 와서 함께 살고 있는, 에브라임과 므낫세와 시므온 지파 소속의 백성도 모두 불러모았다. 주 하나님께서 아사와 함께 계시는 것을 보고, 이스라엘에서도 많은 사람들이 아사에게로 모여들었다. 그들이 예루살렘에 모인 것은 아사 왕 십오년이 되던 해 세 번째 달이었다.

At that time they sacrificed to the LORD seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep and goats from the plunder they had brought back. They entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul. All who would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman. They took an oath to the LORD with loud acclamation, with shouting and with trumpets and horns. All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They sought God eagerly, and he was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side. 그 날 그들은 그들이 가져 온 전리품 가운데서 소 칠백 마리와 양 칠천 마리를 주님께 희생제물로 잡아 바치며, 마음을 다하고 정성을 다하여 주 조상의 하나님만을 찾기로 하는 언약을 맺었다. 주 이스라엘의 하나님을 찾지 아니하는 자는, 젊은 사람이든지 나이 많은 사람이든지, 남자든지 여자든지 가릴 것 없이, 누구든지 다 죽이기로 하였다. 사람들은 함성과 쇠나팔 소리와 뿔나팔 소리가 울려 퍼지는 가운데, 주님께 큰소리로 맹세하였다. 온 유다 백성은 이러한 맹세를 하는 것이 기쁘기만 하였다. 그들은 마음을 다해 맹세하고, 정성을 다해 주님을 찾았으므로, 주님께서 그들을 만나 주셨고, 사방으로 그들에게 평안을 주셨다.

King Asa also deposed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive Asherah pole. Asa cut the pole down, broke it up and burned it in the Kidron Valley. Although he did not remove the high places from Israel, Asa's heart was fully committed to the LORD all his life. He brought into the temple of God the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated. There was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa's reign. 아사 왕은 자기의 할머니 마아가가 혐오스러운 아세라 목상을 만들었다고 해서, 태후의 자리에서 물러나게 하였다. 아사는 자기의 할머니가 만든 혐오스러운 우상을 토막내어 가루로 만들어서, 기드론 냇가에서 불살라 버렸다. 그렇다고 산당이 모두 제거된 것은 아니었지만, 주님을 사모하는 아사의 마음은 평생 한결같았다. 아사는 자기의 아버지와 자신이 거룩하게 구별하여 바친, 은과 금과 그릇들을 하나님의 성전에 들여놓았다. 이 때부터 아사 왕 삼십오년까지 전쟁이 없었다.
