열왕기하 11장

 

When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to destroy the whole royal family. But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram and sister of Ahaziah, took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the royal princes, who were about to be murdered. She put him and his nurse in a bedroom to hide him from Athaliah; so he was not killed. He remained hidden with his nurse at the temple of the LORD for six years while Athaliah ruled the land. In the seventh year Jehoiada sent for the commanders of units of a hundred, the Carites and the guards and had them brought to him at the temple of the LORD. He made a covenant with them and put them under oath at the temple of the LORD. Then he showed them the king's son. He commanded them, saying, "This is what you are to do: You who are in the three companies that are going on duty on the Sabbath--a third of you guarding the royal palace, 아하시야의 어머니 아달랴는 아들이 죽는 것을 보자, 왕족을 다 죽이기 시작하였다. 그러나 왕자들이 살해되는 가운데서도, 여호람 왕의 딸이요 아하시야의 누이인 여호세바가, 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 몰래 빼내어, 유모와 함께 침실에 숨겼다. 이 때에 사람들이, 아달랴가 모르도록 그를 숨겼으므로, 그는 죽음을 면할 수 있었다. 요아스는 그의 고모 여호세바와 함께 여섯 해 동안을 주님의 성전에 숨어 지냈으며, 그 동안 나라는 아달랴가 다스렸다. 일곱째 해가 되자, 여호야다 제사장이 사람을 보내어 가리 사람의 백부장들과 호위병의 백부장들을 불러왔다. 그리고 그들을 주님의 성전에 있는 왕자에게로 데리고 가서, 그들과 더불어 언약을 맺고, 또 주님의 성전에서 맹세를 하게 한 뒤에, 그들에게 왕자를 보여 주었다. 그리고는 그들에게 이렇게 명령을 내렸다. a third at the Sur Gate, and a third at the gate behind the guard, who take turns guarding the temple- and you who are in the other two companies that normally go off Sabbath duty are all to guard the temple for the king. Station yourselves around the king, each man with his weapon in his hand. Anyone who approaches your ranks must be put to death. Stay close to the king wherever he goes." The commanders of units of a hundred did just as Jehoiada the priest ordered. Each one took his men--those who were going on duty on the Sabbath and those who were going off duty--and came to Jehoiada the priest. Then he gave the commanders the spears and shields that had belonged to King David and that were in the temple of the LORD. 다른 삼분의 일은 수르 성문을 지키고, 나머지 삼분의 일은 호위병들의 뒤에 있는 문을 지키십시오. 이와 같이 하여 왕궁을 철저히 지키게 하도록 하십시오. 그리고 안식일 비번은 모두 두 반으로 나누어서, 임금님께서 계신 주님의 성전을 지키도록 하십시오. 각자 무기를 들고 임금님을 호위할 것이며, 누구든지 대열 안으로 들어오려는 사람은 반드시 죽이고, 임금님께서 나가고 드실 때에는 반드시 경호하도록 하십시오." 백부장들은 여호야다 제사장이 명령한 것을 그대로 다 하였다. 그리고 그들은 안식일 당번인 사람들과 안식일 비번인 사람들을 데리고 여호야다 제사장에게로 왔다. 제사장이 백부장들에게 창과 방패를 나누어 주었다. 그것은 다윗 왕의 것으로서, 주님의 성전 안에 간직되어 있던 것들이다.

The guards, each with his weapon in his hand, stationed themselves around the king--near the altar and the temple, from the south side to the north side of the temple. Jehoiada brought out the king's son and put the crown on him; he presented him with a copy of the covenant and proclaimed him king. They anointed him, and the people clapped their hands and shouted, "Long live the king!" When Athaliah heard the noise made by the guards and the people, she went to the people at the temple of the LORD. She looked and there was the king, standing by the pillar, as the custom was. The officers and the trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her robes and called out, "Treason! Treason!" Jehoiada the priest ordered the commanders of units of a hundred, who were in charge of the troops: "Bring her out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her." For the priest had said, "She must not be put to death in the temple of the LORD." 그리하여 호위병들은 각각 손에 무기를 들고, 성전 오른쪽에서부터 왼쪽까지 제단과 성전 주위를 감시하며, 왕을 호위하였다. 그런 다음에 여호야다 제사장이 왕세자를 데리고 나와서, 그에게 왕관을 씌우고, 왕의 직무를 규정한 규례서를 주고, 기름을 부어 왕으로 삼으니, 백성이 손뼉을 치며 "임금님, 만세!" 하고 외쳤다. 아달랴가 호위병들과 백성의 소리를 듣고, 주님의 성전에 모여 있는 백성에게 가서 보니, 왕이 대관식 규례에 따라 기둥 곁에 서 있고, 관리들과 나팔수들도 왕을 모시고 서 있고, 나라의 모든 백성이 기뻐하며 나팔을 불고 있었다. 아달랴가 분을 참지 못하고 옷을 찢으며 "반역이다! 반역이다!" 하고 외쳤다. 그 때에 여호야다 제사장이 군대를 거느린 백부장들에게 명령을 내렸다. "저 여자를 대열 밖으로 끌어내시오. 그리고 저 여자를 따르는 사람은 누구든지 칼로 쳐죽이시오." 여호야다가, 주님의 성전에서는 그 여자를 죽이지 말라고 하였으므로,

So they seized her as she reached the place where the horses enter the palace grounds, and there she was put to death. Jehoiada then made a covenant between the LORD and the king and people that they would be the LORD's people. He also made a covenant between the king and the people. All the people of the land went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed the altars and idols to pieces and killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars. Then Jehoiada the priest posted guards at the temple of the LORD. He took with him the commanders of hundreds, the Carites, the guards and all the people of the land, and together they brought the king down from the temple of the LORD and went into the palace, entering by way of the gate of the guards. The king then took his place on the royal throne, and all the people of the land rejoiced. And the city was quiet, because Athaliah had been slain with the sword at the palace. 그들은 그 여자를 끌어내어, 군마가 드나드는 길을 통해 왕궁으로 들어가, 거기에서 그 여자를 처형하였다. 여호야다는, 이스라엘 백성이 주님의 백성이 되는 언약을, 주님과 왕과 백성 사이에 맺게 하고, 동시에 왕과 백성 사이에도 언약을 맺게 하였다. 그렇게 하고 난 다음에, 그 땅의 온 백성이 바알의 신전으로 몰려가서, 그 신전을 허물고, 제단을 뒤엎고, 신상들을 완전히 부수어 버렸다. 또 그들은 제단 앞에서 바알의 제사장 맛단을 죽였다. 그리고 여호야다 제사장은 주님의 성전에 경비병들을 세웠다. 그리고 그는 백부장들과 가리 사람들과 호위병들과 그 땅의 모든 백성을 거느리고, 왕을 인도하여 주님의 성전에서 데리고 나와서, 호위병들이 지키는 문을 지나, 왕궁으로 행진하여 들어갔다. 왕이 왕좌에 오르자, 그 땅의 모든 백성이 기뻐하였다. 아달랴가 왕궁에서 칼에 맞아 살해된 뒤로, 도성은 평온을 되찾았다.
