출애굽기 24장

Then he said to Moses, "Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. You are to worship at a distance, but Moses alone is to approach the LORD; the others must not come near. And the people may not come up with him." When Moses went and told the people all the LORD's words and laws, they responded with one voice, "Everything the LORD has said we will do." Moses then wrote down everything the LORD had said. He got up early the next morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars representing the twelve tribes of Israel. Then he sent young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as fellowship offerings to the LORD. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 아론과 나답과 아비후와 이스라엘의 장로 일흔 명과 함께 나 주에게로 올라와, 멀찍이 엎드려서 나를 경배하여라. 모세 너 혼자서만 나 주에게로 가까이 나아오고, 그들이 나에게 가까이 와서는 안 된다. 백성은 너와 함께 올라오지 않게 하여라." 모세가 내려와서 백성에게 주님의 말씀과 법규를 모두 전하니, 온 백성이 한 목소리로 주님께서 명하신 모든 말씀을 지키겠다고 대답하였다. 모세는 주님의 모든 말씀을 기록하고, 아침 일찍 일어나서, 산기슭에 제단을 쌓고, 이스라엘의 열두 지파를 따라 기둥 열두 개를 세웠다. 그는 이스라엘 자손들 가운데서 젊은이들을 보내어, 수송아지들을 잡아 주님께 번제를 올리게 하고, 화목제물을 드리게 하였다.

Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, "We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey." Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, "This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words." Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel went up and saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was something like a pavement made of sapphire, clear as the sky itself. 모세는 그 피의 절반은 그릇에 담아 놓고, 나머지 절반은 제단에 뿌렸다. 그리고 그가 '언약의 책'을 들고 백성에게 낭독하니, 그들은 "주님께서 명하신 모든 말씀을 받들어 지키겠다"고 말하였다. 모세는 피를 가져다가 백성에게 뿌리며 말하였다. But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God, and they ate and drank. The LORD said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commands I have written for their instruction." Then Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God. He said to the elders, "Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are with you, and anyone involved in a dispute can go to them." When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it, 주님께서는 이스라엘의 지도자들을 손으로 치지 않으셨으므로, 그들이 하나님을 뵈며 먹고 마셨다. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 내가 있는 산으로 올라와서, 여기에서 기다려라. 그러면 내가 백성을 가르치려고 몸소 돌판에 기록한 율법과 계명을 너에게 주겠다." 모세가 일어나서, 자기의 부관 여호수아와 함께 하나님의 산으로 올라갔다. 올라가기에 앞서, 모세는 장로들에게 일러 두었다. "우리가 여러분에게 돌아올 때까지 여기에서 우리를 기다리고 있으십시오. 아론과 훌이 여러분과 함께 있을 것이니, 문제가 있는 사람은 누구든지 그들에게로 가게 하십시오." 모세가 산에 오르니, 구름이 산을 덮었다.

and the glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from within the cloud. To the Israelites the glory of the LORD looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain. Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. 주님의 영광이 시내 산 위에 머무르고, 엿새 동안 구름이 산을 뒤덮었다. 이렛날 주님께서 구름 가운데서 모세를 부르셨다. 이스라엘 자손의 눈에는 주님의 영광이 마치 산꼭대기에서 타오르는 불처럼 보였다. 모세는 구름 가운데를 지나, 산 위로 올라가서, 밤낮 사십 일을 그 산에 머물렀다.
