The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, "This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 주님께서 이집트 땅에서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하셨다. "너희는 이 달을 한 해의 첫째 달로 삼아서, 한 해를 시작하는 달로 하여라. 온 이스라엘 회중에게 알리어라. 이 달 열흘날 각 가문에 어린 양 한 마리씩 곧 한 가족에 한 마리씩 어린 양을 마련하도록 하여라. 한 가족의 식구 수가 너무 적어서, 양 한 마리를 다 먹을 수 없으면, 한 사람이 먹을 분량을 계산하여, 가까운 이웃에서 그만큼 사람을 더 불러다가 함께 먹도록 하여라. 너희가 마련할 짐승은 흠이 없는 일 년 된 수컷으로 하되, 양이나 염소 가운데서 골라라.

Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. Do not eat the meat raw or cooked in water, but roast it over the fire--head, legs and inner parts. Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. 너희는 그것을 이 달 열나흗날까지 두었다가, 해 질 무렵에 모든 이스라엘 회중이 모여서 잡도록 하여라. 그리고 그 피는 받아다가, 잡은 양을 먹을 집의 좌우 문설주와 상인방에 발라야 한다. 그 날 밤에 그 고기를 먹어야 하는데, 고기는 불에 구워서, 누룩을 넣지 않은 빵과 쓴 나물을 곁들여 함께 먹어야 한다. 너희는 고기를 결코 날로 먹거나 물에 삶아서 먹어서는 안 된다. 머리와 다리와 내장 할 것 없이, 모두 불에 구워서 먹어야 한다. 그리고 너희는 그 어느 것도 다음날 아침까지 남겨 두어서는 안 된다. 아침까지 남은 것이 있으면, 불에 태워 버려야 한다.

This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD's Passover. on that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn--both men and animals--and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. "This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the LORD -a lasting ordinance. For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. on the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel. 너희가 그것을 먹을 때에는 이렇게 하여라. 허리에 띠를 띠고, 발에 신을 신고, 손에 지팡이를 들고, 서둘러서 먹어라. 유월절은 주 앞에서 이렇게 지켜야 한다. 그 날 밤에 내가 이집트 땅을 지나가면서, 사람이든지 짐승이든지, 이집트 땅에 있는 처음 난 것을 모두 치겠다. 그리고 이집트의 모든 신을 벌하겠다. 나는 주다. 문틀에 피를 발랐으면, 그것은 너희가 살고 있는 집의 표적이니, 내가 이집트 땅을 칠 때에, 문설주에 피를 바른 집은, 그 피를 보고 내가 너희를 치지 않고 넘어갈 터이니, 너희는 재앙을 피하여 살아 남을 것이다. 이 날은 너희가 기념해야 할 날이니, 너희는 이 날을 주 앞에서 지키는 절기로 삼아서 영원한 규례로 대대로 지켜야 한다." On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat--that is all you may do. "Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. In the first month you are to eat bread made without yeast, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day. For seven days no yeast is to be found in your houses. And whoever eats anything with yeast in it must be cut off from the community of Israel, whether he is an alien or native-born. Eat nothing made with yeast. Wherever you live, you must eat unleavened bread." 너희는 첫날에 거룩한 모임을 열고, 이렛날에도 거룩한 모임을 열어라. 이 두 날에는, 너희 각자가 먹을 것을 장만하는 일이 아니면, 어떤 일도 해서는 안 된다. 너희는 무교절을 지켜야 한다. 바로 이 날에 내가 이집트 땅에서 너희 온 이스라엘 지파를 이끌어 냈기 때문이다. 너희는 이 날을 영원한 규례로 삼아서 대대로 지켜야 한다. 너희는 첫째 달 열나흗날 저녁부터 그 달 스무하룻날 저녁까지 누룩을 넣지 않은 빵을 먹어야 한다. 이레 동안에는 너희 집 안에 누룩이 있어서는 안 된다. 누룩 든 빵을 먹는 사람은 누구든지, 외국인이든지 본국인이든지, 이스라엘 회중에서 끊어진다. 누룩을 넣은 것은 아무것도 먹지 않아야 한다. 너희가 어디에서 살든지, 이 기간 동안에는 누룩을 넣지 않은 빵을 먹어야 한다."

Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, "Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb. Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. Not one of you shall go out the door of his house until morning. When the LORD goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down. "Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance for you and your descendants. When you enter the land that the LORD will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony. 모세가 이스라엘의 장로를 모두 불러서, 이렇게 말하였다. "여러분은 여러분의 가족들과 함께 먹을 양이나 염소를 준비하여, 유월절 제물로 잡으십시오. 우슬초 묶음을 구하여다가 그릇에 받아 놓은 피에 적셔서, 그 피를 상인방과 좌우 문설주에 뿌리십시오. 여러분은 아침까지 아무도 자기 집 문 밖으로 나가서는 안 됩니다. 주님께서 이집트 사람들을 치려고 지나가시다가, 상인방과 좌우 문설주에 바른 피를 보시고, 그 문 앞을 그냥 지나가실 것이며, 파괴자가 여러분의 집을 치러 들어가지 못하게 하실 것입니다. 여러분은 이 일을 여러분과 여러분의 자손이 지킬 규례로 삼아, 영원히 지키게 하십시오. 여러분은 주님께서 여러분에게 주시겠다고 약속하신 땅에 들어가거든, 이 예식을 지키십시오.

And when your children ask you, 'What does this ceremony mean to you?' then tell them, 'It is the Passover sacrifice to the LORD, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.' " Then the people bowed down and worshiped. The Israelites did just what the LORD commanded Moses and Aaron. At midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead. 여러분의 아들딸이 여러분에게 '이 예식이 무엇을 뜻합니까?' 하고 물을 것입니다. 그러면 여러분은 그들에게 '이것은 주님께 드리는 유월절 제사다. 주님께서 이집트 사람을 치실 때에, 이집트에 있던 이스라엘 자손의 집만은 그냥 지나가셔서, 우리의 집들을 구하여 주셨다' 하고 이르십시오." 백성은 이 말을 듣고서, 엎드려 주님께 경배를 드렸다. 이스라엘 자손은 돌아가서, 주님께서 모세와 아론에게 명하신 대로 하였다. 한밤중에 주님께서 이집트 땅에 있는 처음 난 것들을 모두 치셨다. 임금 자리에 앉은 바로의 맏아들을 비롯하여 감옥에 있는 포로의 맏아들과 짐승의 맏배까지 모두 치시니, 바로와 그의 신하와 백성이 그 날 한밤중에 모두 깨어 일어났다. 이집트에 큰 통곡소리가 났는데, 초상을 당하지 않은 집이 한 집도 없었다.

During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the LORD as you have requested. Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me." The Egyptians urged the people to hurry and leave the country. "For otherwise," they said, "we will all die!" So the people took their dough before the yeast was added, and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs wrapped in clothing. The Israelites did as Moses instructed and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and for clothing. 바로는 밤중에 모세와 아론을 불러들여서 말하였다. "너희와 너희 이스라엘 자손은 어서 일어나서, 내 백성에게서 떠나가거라. 그리고 너희의 요구대로, 너희는 가서 너희의 주를 섬겨라. 너희는 너희가 요구한 대로, 너희의 양과 소도 몰고 가거라. 그리고 내가 복을 받게 빌어라." 이집트 사람은 '우리 모두 다 죽게 되었다' 하면서, 이스라엘 백성에게 '어서 이 땅에서 떠나라'고 재촉하였다. 그래서 이스라엘 백성은, 아직 빵 반죽이 부풀지도 않았는데, 그 반죽을 그릇째 옷에 싸서, 어깨에 둘러메고 나섰다. 이스라엘 자손은 모세의 말대로 이집트 사람에게 은붙이와 금붙이와 의복을 요구하였고,

The LORD had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians. The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. Many other people went up with them, as well as large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds. With the dough they had brought from Egypt, they baked cakes of unleavened bread. The dough was without yeast because they had been driven out of Egypt and did not have time to prepare food for themselves. Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. 주님께서는 이스라엘 백성이 이집트 사람에게 환심을 사도록 하셨으므로, 이집트 사람들은 이스라엘 자손의 요구대로 다 내어 주었다. 이렇게 하여서, 그들은 이집트 사람들에게서 물건을 빼앗아 가지고 떠나갔다. 마침내 이스라엘 자손이 라암셋을 떠나서 숙곳으로 갔는데, 딸린 아이들 외에, 장정만 해도 육십만 가량이 되었다. 그 밖에도 다른 여러 민족들이 많이 그들을 따라 나섰고, 양과 소 등 수많은 집짐승 떼가 그들을 따랐다. 그들은 이집트에서 가지고 나온 부풀지 않은 빵 반죽으로 누룩을 넣지 않은 빵을 구워야 하였다. 그들은 이집트에서 급히 쫓겨 나왔으므로, 먹거리를 장만할 겨를이 없었다. 이스라엘 자손이 이집트에서 산 기간은 사백삼십 년이었다.

At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the LORD's divisions left Egypt. Because the LORD kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the LORD for the generations to come. The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "These are the regulations for the Passover: "No foreigner is to eat of it. Any slave you have bought may eat of it after you have circumcised him, but a temporary resident and a hired worker may not eat of it. 마침내 사백삼십 년이 끝나는 바로 그 날, 주님의 모든 군대가 이집트 땅에서 나왔다. 그 날 밤에 주님께서 그들을 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 내시려고 밤을 새우면서 지켜 주셨으므로, 그 밤은 '주님의 밤'이 되었고, 이스라엘 자손이 대대로 밤새워 지켜야 하는 밤이 되었다. 주님께서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하셨다. "유월절 규례는 이러하다. 이방 사람은 아무도 유월절 제물을 먹지 못한다. 그러나 돈으로 사들인 종으로서 할례를 받은 사람은 누구나 그것을 먹을 수 있다. 임시로 거주하는 타국인이나 고용된 타국인 품꾼은 그것을 먹을 수 없다.

"It must be eaten inside one house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones. The whole community of Israel must celebrate it. "An alien living among you who wants to celebrate the LORD's Passover must have all the males in his household circumcised; then he may take part like one born in the land. No uncircumcised male may eat of it. The same law applies to the native-born and to the alien living among you." All the Israelites did just what the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron. 어느 집이든지 고기는 한 집에서 먹어야 하며, 그 고기를 조금이라도 집 바깥으로 가지고 나가서는 안 된다. 뼈는 하나라도 꺾어서는 안 된다. 이스라엘 모든 회중이 다 함께 이 유월절을 지켜야 한다. 너희에게 몸붙여 사는 외국인이 주님의 유월절을 지키려고 하면, 너희는 그 모든 남자에게 할례를 받게 하여야 한다. 그런 다음에 그는 본국인과 같이 되어서 유월절에 참여할 수 있다. 할례를 받지 않은 사람은 아무도 제물을 먹어서는 안 된다. 본국인에게나 너희에게 몸붙여 사는 타국인에게나, 이 법은 동일하다." 이스라엘의 모든 자손은, 주님께서 모세와 아론에게 명하신 대로 하였다.

And on that very day the LORD brought the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions. 바로 이 날에 주님께서 이스라엘 자손을 각 군대 단위로 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 내셨다.
