출애굽기 4장

Moses answered, "What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, 'The LORD did not appear to you'?" Then the LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" "A staff," he replied. The LORD said, "Throw it on the ground." Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. Then the LORD said to him, "Reach out your hand and take it by the tail." So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand. "This," said the LORD, "is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has appeared to you." 그러나 모세는 이렇게 말씀을 드렸다. "그들이 저를 믿지 않고, 저의 말을 듣지 않고, '주님께서는 너에게 나타나지 않으셨다' 하면 어찌합니까?" 주님께서 그에게 물으셨다. "네가 손에 가지고 있는 것이 무엇이냐?" 모세가 대답하였다. "지팡이입니다." 주님께서 말씀하셨다. "그것을 땅에 던져 보아라." 모세가 지팡이를 땅에 던지니, 그것이 뱀이 되었다. 모세가 그 앞에서 피하니, 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너의 손을 내밀어서 그 꼬리를 잡아라." 모세가 손을 내밀어서 꼬리를 잡으니, 그것이 그의 손에서 도로 지팡이가 되었다. 주님께서 말씀하셨다. "네가 이렇게 해서 이적을 보여 주면, 주 너희 조상의 하나님, 곧 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님이 너에게 나타난 것을 믿을 것이다."

Then the LORD said, "Put your hand inside your cloak." So Moses put his hand into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was leprous, like snow. "Now put it back into your cloak," he said. So Moses put his hand back into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was restored, like the rest of his flesh. Then the LORD said, "If they do not believe you or pay attention to the first miraculous sign, they may believe the second. But if they do not believe these two signs or listen to you, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the river will become blood on the ground." Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." 주님께서 또 그에게 말씀하셨다. "너의 손을 품에 넣어 보아라." 그래서 모세가 손을 품에 넣었다가 꺼내어서 보니, 그 손에 악성 피부병이 들어서, 마치 흰 눈이 덮인 것 같았다. 주님께서 "너의 손을 품에 다시 넣어 보아라" 하고 말씀하셨다. 그가 손을 다시 품에 넣었다가 꺼내어서 보니, 손의 살이 본래대로 돌아와 있었다. "그들이 네가 하는 말도 믿지 않고, 첫 번째 이적의 표징도 받아들이지 않더라도, 두 번째 이적의 표징은 믿을 것이다. 그들이 이 두 이적도 믿지 않고, 너의 말도 믿지 않으면, 너는 나일 강에서 물을 퍼다가 마른 땅에 부어라. 그러면 나일 강에서 퍼온 물이, 마른 땅에서 피가 될 것이다." 모세가 주님께 아뢰었다. "주님, 죄송합니다. 저는 본래 말재주가 없는 사람입니다. 전에도 그랬고, 주님께서 이 종에게 말씀을 하고 계시는 지금도 그러합니다. 저는 입이 둔하고 혀가 무딘 사람입니다."

The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say." But Moses said, "O Lord, please send someone else to do it." Then the LORD's anger burned against Moses and he said, "What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. 주님께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "누가 사람의 입을 지었느냐? 누가 말 못하는 이를 만들고 듣지 못하는 이를 만들며, 누가 앞을 볼 수 있는 사람이 되게 하거나 앞 못 보는 사람이 되게 하느냐? 바로 나 주가 아니더냐? 그러니 가거라. 네가 말하는 것을 내가 돕겠다. 네가 할 말을 할 수 있도록, 내가 너에게 가르쳐 주겠다." 모세가 머뭇거리며 "주님, 죄송합니다. 제발 보낼 만한 사람을 보내시기 바랍니다" 하고 말씀드리니, 주님께서 모세에게 크게 노하시어 말씀하셨다. "레위 사람인 너의 형 아론이 있지 않느냐? 나는 그가 말을 잘 하는 줄 안다. 그가 지금 너를 만나러 온다. 그가 너를 보면 참으로 기뻐할 것이다. 너는 그에게 말하여 주어라. 네가 할 말을 그에게 일러주어라. 네가 말을 할 때에나 그가 말을 할 때에, 내가 너희를 둘 다 돕겠다. 너희가 하여야 할 말을 가르쳐 주겠다.

He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. But take this staff in your hand so you can perform miraculous signs with it." Then Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, "Let me go back to my own people in Egypt to see if any of them are still alive." Jethro said, "Go, and I wish you well." Now the LORD had said to Moses in Midian, "Go back to Egypt, for all the men who wanted to kill you are dead." So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand. 그가 너를 대신하여 백성에게 말을 할 것이다. 그는 너의 말을 대신 전달할 것이요, 너는 그에게 하나님 같이 될 것이다. 너는 이 지팡이를 손에 잡아라. 그리고 이것으로 이적을 행하여라." 모세가 그의 장인 이드로에게 돌아가서 이렇게 말하였다. "저는 이제 떠나야겠습니다. 이집트에 있는 친족들에게로 돌아가서, 그들이 아직도 살아 있는지를 알아 보아야겠습니다." 이드로는 모세에게, 편안히 가라고 하면서 작별을 하였다. 주님께서 미디안에서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "이집트로 돌아가거라. 너의 목숨을 노리던 사람들이 모두 죽었다." 그래서 모세는 아내와 아들들을 나귀 등에 태우고 이집트 땅으로 돌아갔다. 그 때에 모세는 손에 하나님의 지팡이를 들고 있었다.

The LORD said to Moses, "When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go. Then say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son, and I told you, "Let my son go, so he may worship me." But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.' " At a lodging place on the way, the LORD met {Moses} and was about to kill him. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son's foreskin and touched {Moses'} feet with it. "Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me," she said. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 너에게 이적을 행할 능력을 주었으니, 너는 이집트로 돌아가거든, 바로의 앞에서 그 모든 이적을 나타내 보여라. 그러나 나는 그가 고집을 부리게 하여 내 백성을 놓아 보내지 않게 하겠다. 너는 바로에게 말하여라. '나 주가 이렇게 말한다. 이스라엘은 나의 맏아들이다. 내가 너에게 나의 아들을 놓아 보내어 나를 예배하게 하라고 하였건만, 너는 그를 놓아 보내지 않았다. 그러므로 이제 내가 너의 맏아들을 죽게 하겠다.'" 모세가 길을 가다가 어떤 숙소에 머물러 있을 때에, 주님께서 찾아 오셔서 모세를 죽이려고 하셨다. 십보라가 부싯돌 칼을 가지고 제 아들의 포피를 잘라서 모세의 발에 대고, "당신은, 나에게 피 남편입니다" 하고 말하였다.

So the LORD let him alone. (At that time she said "bridegroom of blood," referring to circumcision.) The LORD said to Aaron, "Go into the desert to meet Moses." So he met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him. Then Moses told Aaron everything the LORD had sent him to say, and also about all the miraculous signs he had commanded him to perform. Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites, and Aaron told them everything the LORD had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people, 그래서 주님께서 그를 놓아 주셨는데, 그 때에 십보라가 '피 남편'이라고 말한 것은 바로 이 할례 때문이다. 주님께서 아론에게, 광야로 가서 모세를 만나라고 말씀하시니, 그가 하나님의 산에 가서 모세를 만나서 입을 맞추어 문안하였다. 모세는, 주님께서 자기를 보내시면서 하신 모든 말씀과, 자기에게 명하신 이적들에 관한 모든 것을, 아론에게 말하여 주었다. 모세와 아론은 이집트로 가서, 이스라엘 자손의 모든 장로를 불러 모았다. 아론이 주님께서 모세에게 하신 모든 말씀을 그들에게 일러주고, 백성이 보는 앞에서 이적을 행하니,

and they believed. And when they heard that the LORD was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped. 백성이 그들을 믿었다. 그들은, 주님께서 이스라엘 자손을 굽어살피시고 그들이 고통받는 것을 보셨다는 말을 듣고, 엎드려 주님께 경배하였다.
